Greetings,

As my luck would have it, my Linux box lost its hard drive, at least I'm most certain that the hard drive has died. :( The drive cannot be mounted and a partition editor cannot find the drive. Looks like I'll be doing some transplant surgery here soon. Fortunately I have an identical drive just sitting collecting dust. :)

I'm confident that I can still make the 1 mil mark by July though. My WinXP box is carrying all the load right now and is still maintaining my RAC above 1300.

Keep on BOINCing...! :)

Hummm ... I knew my electric bill would increase a bit ... but what a surprise!

The good news is that after my first month of nearly 24/7 crunching I have earned 250,000+ credits!

The surprise was seeing my monthly electricity usage jump form 120-170 kwH all the way to 403 kwH with only two GTS 220's in an i7 and a GTS 250 in my dual core.

That translates into a bill that jumped from $25-30/month all the way to $64!

Wow ... I'm shocked! ( guess I was hoping for more like a $40-50 dollar bill )

Guess I'll just save my receipts and check to see if my equipment and operational expenses are also tax deductible like direct contributions.

Hey, I'm not complaining ... just more than a little surprised!

Does anyone make a solar-powered 295?

I wish my electric bill was that low. I haven't seen a bill that low or at all since I bought my house in 2000. In fact, my electric bill is usually around $165-$225.

Guess I'll just save my receipts and check to see if my equipment and operational expenses are also tax deductible like direct contributions.

Though there are some that will argue with me, and I'm not a tax consultant, electricity is not tax deductible anymore than your manual labor is tax deductible for donating your time at a homeless shelter. At least, that's what my corporation's tax consultant tells me, and I trust him completely.

Yep. US$250-$400 will give you about 180W at optimum. A 295 will need a lot more juice than that though.
I plan on building 3 x 60W solar panels on my roof to power the gadgets and accessories in my house least.

I'm always stumped why exercise treadmills CONSUME electricity. That's backwards. Flop that motor with a generator, and put a device charger on that dashboard. Your kids want a cellphone? Fine, but they're only allowed to charge it up on the treadmill ;-)

That's 1 reason I'm not planning to go down the CUDA route.

A few watts less now there's no permanent 3rd machine this end.

2nd in sign up class. Long way to go before I take the number one spot, but it will happen eventually ~ 1 year.
