try closing boinc completely, if that doesn't work, restart pc. and if that doesn't work, report back to this thread. I recommend Secunia PSI: http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal/ Go Georgia Tech. |

Same thing most people are getting I would bet. Too many trying to send at once I assume. Official Abuser of Boinc Buttons... And no good credit hound! |

All of my machines are having a hard time with uploads. A few get in most goto retry. This usually happens after jams, I have restarted a couple and it made no difference. Official Abuser of Boinc Buttons... And no good credit hound! |

Blame those with 10 day caches that are trying to "REFILL." They have managed to overwhelm both the Upload Server and the Scheduler! regards Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |

You hit it exactly. Patience is the only thing or to start the DOS attack, by forcing manual uploads. 09/09/09 21:15:14||Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |

Anybody else seeing a reluctance for tasks to upload this morning, even though the link is well below stress-level (70 / 9 Mbits)? They get through eventually on their own, but hang around for several retries first. [Note for Ned and others: this is not a complaint, and no, I don't expect perfect operations 24/7/365: I'm perfectly prepared to accept downtime from any BOINC project, and a consequent enhanced share for the others. This is just a free 'heads-up' service for the admins, in case it's the first symptom of a developing or underlying problem.] |

They get through eventually on their own, but hang around for several retries first. So it's not just the streaming TV I'm using to test the replacement monitor I had to buy yesterday? Set HTTP_debug, but Murphy strikes again: both current stuck uploads unstuck themselves at the first attempt. Time to go out for some lunch, and see what I can catch while I'm away..... |

I don't know, all this panicking about not being able to upload + get new work - is this going to happen every week?! By the time we're all happy it'll be time for the next outage :D!!! |

I don't know, all this panicking about not being able to upload + get new work - is this going to happen every week?! By the time we're all happy it'll be time for the next outage :D!!! When I'm driving my car, and a yellow warning light comes on unexpectedly, I don't panic, and I don't come to a screeching halt in the fast lane of the motorway. But I don't ignore the warning, either: I telephone or call in to my local garage, describe the symptoms, and seek their professional opinion. Sometimes a simple fix at that stage can save a very expensive repair later on. And sometimes it can save the garage money too: remember the case where the tank supplying the forecourt petrol (gas) pumps was filled up with diesel by mistake? The sooner that message got back to the attendants, the better for all concerned. |

One of the design criteria for BOINC is low cost, and low cost means using less expensive hardware, not investing in redundant infrastructure, and running at higher loading than would be tolerable otherwise. As Richard indicated, this is not a reason for panic, it's just what happens when you try to operate in this manner. The BOINC client caches work to bridge difficult times. I like his warning light analogy, but I think it's more like the "gas tank warning" -- if the light is on, you watch for a gas station. There is rarely reason to panic. |

I like his warning light analogy, but I think it's more like the "gas tank warning" -- if the light is on, you watch for a gas station. That's why I consult the professionals if it's one I haven't seen before! 'Low gas' is one thing: low oil pressure, high water temperature, or worn brake pads something else entirely. I've had a PM to say that the usual [back] channels have passed the message on to where it needs to go - thanks, you know who you are. |
