Have reinstalled the 4.09 client and all is well again. Due to the upload probs I wont be submitting anymore SAH results and go back to 100% CPDN untill a new boinc client is available. |

I installed 4.12 on 5 Windows systems today (2 xp pro, 2 win2k adv server, 1 win2k pro), and they all work fine except the Win2k Pro installation. It appears to hang, the Task Mgr showing boinc_gui using 99% of the CPU power. Oddly enough, if I end the setiathome_4.05 process in the task list, the boinc_gui CPU usage drops to zero and I regain control of it. At least until it respawns the seti process to begin computation...which repeats the "hang" symptom. I've tried reinstalling over the install, resetting project, detaching from the project and completely uninstalling BOINC...all to no avail. I'm going to put the 4.09 client back on that machine until this gets ironed out. |

One works perfectly , the other just hangs after benchmark. I don't get it. Dee |

I too also am running Win98SE and my system hangs right after boinc start the computations. Only way to 'get-out' is to kill the process. Looks like its back to v4.09 for me! <img src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/seti2/stats.php?userID=1135"> |

Last night, I also upgraded the BOINC client on my wife's computer, running XP Pro SP2 (other two XP pro machines mentioned above were SP1). It locks the CPU in a similar manner to my Win2K Pro install. I say similar because the boinc_gui process eats some CPU (15%) but the bulk was eaten up by the suddenly hyperactive virus scanner process McShield. When I disabled McAfee, the freed CPU cycles went to boinc_gui. The only commonality between the two problem machines is they are both IBM ThinkPads: an R31 (Win2K) and a T40 (XP Pro SP2). I've reverted both systems to BOINC 4.09 with no issue. |

I've installed the 4.13 BOINC client on all machines without incident, including the two laptops that barfed on the 4.12 client. |
