Senegal-Giappone 2 a 2.

Sweden was denied a penalty in the first quarter. Germany had a big luck, but that is common.

Yes, the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Only 100 years since that collapsed.

Speaking of Germany.
Sweden was heading 1-1 against World Champion Germany after a great game but in the final five minutes of the extension, Toni Kroos struck 2-1 after a heavy free kick from a narrow angle. Curtain for Sweden who played with one player more in the final minutes:(

Yes. The Kaiserhymne.
The German lyric verse one.
1. Gott erhalte, Gott beschütze
Unsern Kaiser, unser Land!
Mächtig durch des Glaubens Stütze
Führt er uns mit weiser Hand!
Laßt uns seiner Väter Krone
Schirmen wider jeden Feind:
Innig bleibt mit Habsburgs Throne
Österreichs Geschick vereint.
I didn't know that Germany is actually Austrian and Serbian.
And that the South Tirol and Trieste also is Austrian.
Hehe:)

Nice hymn by Haydn though.

I just heard the German national anthem by Haydn. Formerly, it was the anthem of the Hapsburg empire and is known as "Serbidiola" to us Triestini from it words
Serbi Iddio l'austriaco regno
Salvi il nostro Imperator
Nella fe' che gli e' sostegno
Regga noi con saggio amor

Soon Sweden's match will take place against the favorite Germany in the World Cup.
Stefan Schwarz sends his congratulations to the Swedish national team.
"You have nine million people behind you, at least," says the former football pro Schwarz.

Brazil met Costa Rica today.
The underdog Costa Rica managed to keep the 0-0 but not until the last 10 minutes of the game Brazil scored.
Otherwise it would be very funny if Costa Rica and Iceland would be playing in the final:)

Not being a soccer fan, I watch many Russia games. They are all pleasant with many surprises. The underdogs perform well in many occasions. Go Iceland with a 99% TV share!

We call them Canadair. I saw them in Liguria, coming low to swoop water from the sea.

Wild forest fires in Sweden.
Italian EU firefighting planes now active in fighting wood fires in Stockholm suburbs. Up and down with water. Impressive.

Grazie Italia:)

I thought many should be resting before Tour de France.
No. Many riders choose between the Critérium du Dauphiné (June 3-10) and the Tour de Suisse (June 9-17) as a preparation.
Well nobody said it should be easy to compete in cycling:)
Geraint Thomas (Team Sky) gained a few seconds on his overall rivals at the Critérium du Dauphiné mountain finish to La Rosière to extended his overall lead to 1:29 on Adam Yates and 2:01 on Romain Bardet, with just one mountain stage remaining.
Tomorrow Mont Blanc / Monte Bianco :)

And yes. Adam Yates is the twin brother of Simon Yates that almost won the Giro!

Giro Too many holes in the streets of Rome. The stage ends after three turns and becomes a simple show with no timing. The racers menaced to stop and got the neutralization of the race. Froome wins also officially.
1 Sam Bennett Eire 3 wins
2 Elia Viviani 4 wins
Now Giro is over!

After Fabio Aru and Simon Yates also Thibaut Pinot was hit by the "homme au marteau" and lost his third place. The Giro has been brutal indeed, more than any Tour de France.
