I just saw a clip with Lindsey Vonn meeting Ingemar Stenmark last year in Stockholm talking to each other.
Among many things Ingemar asked if she was Swedish related.
No, Norwegian she said,
Her great-great grandmother came from Kristiansand in Norway.
Well I guess it take a Norwegian to beat Stenmark's all time record:)

Funny. I have worked with Bull mini-computers as well. But that was in the early 90's.
And of course a Norwegian computer:) Nord 100. Hi tech at the time. That was when I studied at KTH in Stockholm in the late 70's.

I am watching the Dobbiaco-Cortina cross country on TV, 48 km with top height at Cimabanche,1548 m. I have done it with a friend who later died on a steep slope in Alpi Giulie. There was no snow in December but the grass was icy. He should have needed crampons, but we rock climbers do not have crampons in our equipment so he fell down to his death. He was the manager of the Computing Center of Trieste University with its Cray computer. I used to joke with him because my Bull/MIPS minicomputer, a RISC machine, was as fast as his Cray mainframe while costing one tenth of it. Ciao, Mario.

It can be very crowded in the Alps pists so if you want a pist all to your self,
Go to North Korea's Masikryong ski resort instead.
The slopes at Masikryong are virtually deserted. At one point on a weekend afternoon in peak season, Swede Patrik Hultberg was the only skier on the slopes. He said: 'That's really cool. I wish I could experience it more, hitting new pistes and there's nobody there'

Bad weather at Garmisch Partenkirchen. The trial runs have been abolished and only one downhill race instead of two will start tomorrow from a lower start place. Maybe the full downhill race of ladies will start Sunday.

Yes, but Marcialonga goes through many villages in Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa, so the track must be maintained and cured. This year there was no absence of snow, but in dry years the snow must be carried down from the mountains.

There is the same problem with Vasaloppet.
Many times at Dalarna where Vasaloppet are situated in the beginning of March there is no snow at all.
Then they have to use artificial snow to make the track skiable.
No snowy mountains around.

Paolo "Il Grillo" Bettini, former champion road racing cyclist known for his energetic and never-ending attack will.
He finished 212.
Bjørn Dæhlie Norway, the worlds best male Cross Country skiier all time was there as well.
He finished 100.

Btw Il Grillo means Cricket in english.
