I got my school to add BOINC to the lab computers when the year starts up. Strange that staff check their email during the summer.

I want to be able to control these machines remotely, and I have permission for that, but how do I pick between 20 machines at one IP?

Port forwarding is no good at this point, only one computer can be forwarded at one time. I don't even know the port(s) that need to be forwarded!

What do I do?

I don't want to control ALL of them at once, I want to be able to pick one, but they are all at the same IP.

in this case... it would be wise to set at least 3-4 projects to each computer so that if a project does go down, these computers won't be dry.

another person may have a way to get this but setup would require having the computers sub (router)ip to be constant and not change... i have 3 computer on 1 router that goes to another router(which has 1 pc on it) before it hits the modem and so i have 2 ip sets in my house, i can reach 2 out of 3 and control them via remote... but 3 of the computers are in the same/desk...(if it was any hotter in this room, i think i would have set off a radioactive detector...)

I recommend Secunia PSI: http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal/
Go Georgia Tech.

So you want to control them from outside the school or control them from one machine on the school network?

Once they are setup there isn't really that much to control. Unless you just want to to be able to see what they are doing.

I have several PCs at work, so it's a similar issue.

What I do is have one machine that we can sign in to via a VPN and RDP (Windows terminal).

Once signed into that machine I can use RealVNC to take control of any of the other machines on the remote network.

Elegant, no.. but it does work.
