I would like to believe that, but I am finishing wu's faster than they are uploading, so I am getting further behind each hour. |

Of course the problem there is just as it clears (say within 12 to 18 hours) the server is going to go offline for a maintenance cycle.... If one or two get through every now & then, then the only problem is the load on the servers. |

Which is exactly why I performed these steps: 1. Hammered all of mine through until I was able to download again 2. Set my cache to 10 days 3. Wait for downloads to finish 4. Set cache to 3 days. 5. Wait out the storm. 6. Repeat. |

...exactly. I also set my cache to 10 days till my 1500 WU's come in for the day, then finish filling up the next day, then set it back to 4 days, set NO NEW TASKS and kill network communication....and I just sit and crunch without having to bother the servers any till it's time to Upload/Report - which I try to do all in a single shot, then get off the network as quickly as I can. I am now crunching my last 1800+ WU's that I have on my machine (with No New Tasks set)for Seti@Home, as once they are complete, I will be reformatting this machine and installing some Solid State Drives (as it's also my main workstation), then moving over to another project that is less mature, that can use the extra power that I have to offer. I feel as though I have accomplished what I needed to here crunching for Seti@Home exclusively - time for another Project for exclusive crunching. It seems that the results feature has been turned off for some time. Is there any other way to determine if your results are timing out? I think what they are trying to do is reduce the load on the Master DB as much as they can, so any features that are off are to scrape every inch of available bandwidth to keep the requests down. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_California,_Berkeley It's a University owned building with some services provided. In 2006-2007, 7,850 donors contributed $267.9 million I'm sure that includes cash donations to the S@H fund. The number of donors would probably be significantly less if our contributions weren't included, though only the .9 in the amount would change. Really big donors want a new building with their name on it... Joe |

If I could afford a donation so big you guys would rebuild a building with my name on it. "The SETI project is now based at the Vistro.net Super Smallish Server Shack. The data is being carried by the Freakin' Fast Fail Free Fiber File Freighter" Makes me feel homicidal whenever somebody other than me hits the powerball. Let's see... current powerball jackpot at 36.8 million cash value after tax... 1 million to pay off the house and then some 2 million to SETI 1 million in "ego machines"... server chassis with as many PCI slots as possible for Nvidia cards, or maybe get one machine and get many many racks full of those rack mounted nvidia Tesla jobs.... 4 teraflops per unit, I'd buy at least 100 units. 1 million to Arecibo so it don't go away in '11. 1 million in Coca-Cola (Don't jugde) With 32 million left over! Maybe I'd blow that by stapling fifties to homework assignments. Makes me almost suicidal that I don't have that kind of cash laying around. |

Don't forget the generating plant to make the electricity to feed a million dollars in "ego machines." |

Crap, too bad there is only 1 or 2 known PCI CUDA cards available on the planet ;) I am sure PCIe would suit the project just fine though ;) I am TCP JESUS...The Carpenter Phenom Jesus....and HAMMERING is what I do best! formerly known as...MC Hammer. |

I'm talking out of my ass here, but my guess would be that it's reporting before it uploads. But that's probably wrong. |

Crap, too bad there is only 1 or 2 known PCI CUDA cards available on the planet ;) ihateyou I get so caught up in my fantasies, that I actually shop for machine parts. Now I have to look for a new chassis that has all PCIe slots. |

Okay, I will ask... How does this help Seti. What did you "responsibly do?" How much Irresponsible/Non Factual information did you broadcast? Which is exactly why I performed these steps: Regards Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |

I have to ask is this Responsible Information? Or Misinformation. It does nothing to help the project and potentially causes more User frustration as what you made work, will Not work for them... Regards ...exactly. Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |

Currently in the Server Status Page Results out in the field 4,284,518 207,714 Results returned and awaiting validation 3,266,340 119,507 Workunits waiting for db purging 526,332 7,022 Results waiting for db purging 1,112,401 15,714 Those are things actively attacking the DB... Does anyone recall any of Matt's notes about DB Bloat? Or the unstated things about how the Task Lists/Pending Credit and others affect keeping the replica in sync. Right now essential Services are Running. Regards Of course the problem there is just as it clears (say within 12 to 18 hours) the server is going to go offline for a maintenance cycle.... Ah, found it again! A look at hardware RAID using SSDs compared to HDDs. RAID5 in action. Grant Darwin NT |

Ah, found it again! Aside: Note that for database use, normally RAID5 is a Very Bad choice... Something more like RAID0 or RAID10 is a far better bet. Note also that SSDs are rather special due to their near zero latency. All interesting stuff (for some at least :-) ) Regards, Martin See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

If you don't know what you are doing - don't do it! ;-) If you want to know what you have done - wait 'til the service is up again ;-) (by chance after the usual maintenance) __W__ _______________________________________________________________________________ |
