When I switched on the comp this morning one went up and the others http errors so I will now just wait until the others go up and hopefully have some downloads. My other Boinc projects will just have to carry on working.

Well this turned out kind of not how I would have expected. People got enough of their uploads sent in and started hammering the servers for downloads, so now there's no bandwidth for the uploads to get through.

Uploads are getting through, just slowly as there are still a lot of machines trying to upload finished work.

Enough of my uploads went through for it to start asking for more work, but the cache still isn't full as i hit the daily WU limit. And i notice a lot of the WU are shorties again.
Although it looks like AP has almost done it's last disk, so in a few hours that'll cause the downloads to drop off significantly once that dries up again.

Just let it run (if you normally do overnight). It will recover with time.

It's now fine. Uploads are normal for me now.

Thanks for your response.

I have a slightly different upload problem. All but one of my stuck uploads have cleared, except for http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=1302869985.

BoincView log shows that task completed 14/07/09 23:35 and I have completed and uploaded 7 other tasks since. For some reason this older task is still stuck even though more recent ones have cleared.

I think a similar problem has happened before. It may be linked to ISP, I use T-Mobile "mobile broadband". I will try an upload later when I have an alternate internet access through a public WiFi connetion.

Keith

[Edit]
Now 8 sucesses after this one stuck result.

A large percentage of my uploads have gone though. One box has gotten them all pushed through, but the others keep getting HTTP errors.

Looking at the cricket graphs, it is obvious where the AP splitters ran out of tapes and the upload line immediately goes up.

It seems as if we're at the point, presently, where there are no sockets available in Apache. No telling how long this will last.

I suppose the good news is that luck of the draw pushed most of my shorties through, so I was able to report those before re-issues were reported.

Can't get any work. Looks like the splitters aren't fast enough, no work units being sent.

I have only gotten about 20-25 new MB WU's downloaded in the last hour or so, since I turned the scheduler back on after last night's downloads maxing out @ 1500 WU's.

Hopefully things pickup soon as everyone's cache get's filled up again after the 'speedbump' over the previous couple of days.

Within the last 30 mins all my WU's uploaded and I got new WU (all MB, no AP).

I only have CPU's here, no CUDA, because I only buy laptops (for non BOINC reasons)

Since today morning the GPU cruncher is only idle.
(since maybe 12 hours)

And had a ~ 4 day WU cache.

I have now ~ 1,600 results ready for UL.
But they can't go home.

Maybe every few minutes one result.

Very well.. if this will continue like this.. in few days (one week?) the PC will request new work.

Ohh well..

This well UL traffic will continue? How long?

OTOH. The UL traffic will be better in future.. or not.. the GPU cruncher want to send ~ 800 results to Berkeley / day. [normal ARs]
If this will not be possible, I can switch off the GPU cruncher..

So far, I've waited since Sunday.

Don't know why that should be the case.
From what i can recall on Sat, Sun & most of Monday there were no problems with uploads. Late Monday (for reasons unknown) the upload server went off line & it only came back online a couple of hours ago (if that).

Yes, I understand about traffic - just want to know what the average number of days one should wait for a job to upload.

Even when things are congested, most uploads will go through in a few hours. If it's really bad it might take 12-24hrs. Usually thay go through on the first attempt.

Hi Grant,

Thanks for the info!!
One WU made it through overnight.

Now I know that I should try to force the uploads....

I got the rest to go by using the BOINC Manager advanced view:
Advanced-> "Do Network Communication" Over and over and over.
For every three or four cyles, maybe one WU made it.

I run Seti@gome on another two laptops in two cities -
one: cable-modem - the other: DSL.
Both had the problem of WU not uploading.

Same solution worked: "Do Network Communication" over and over.

Things appear to be working ok at the moment, but the network traffic for the past 18 hours or so looks rather odd to say the least.
Outbound traffic- a couple of short, sharp drops, then nice & steady until it took a huge dive for a few hours. Came back up again, but still a few sharp drops here & there.
As for inbound traffic- started off ok & gradually increased, then it became a sine wave of gradually increaasing amplitude. Leveled off for a short while but then started to become a bit jagged.

Grrrr...................

Uploads failing again. Bandwidth is maxxed out again but AP work is NOT being generated or sent out. So what gives????

[edit]In fact never did get all my uploads in. They seem to error out instantly and go back into the delayed time backoff mode.

Inbound traffic just hit 32.48Mb/s. I think we have a new record.
