The cost of hydro is real. I just set up my first ever dedicated machine tonight. However I did set it to stop crunching between 3 pm and 7pm which are the highest energy use times in my area. I figure there's no point adding to the strain of the grid. However... I do have the windows update run during that time. Too bad I can't program my PC to auto start-up at certain times. Even if your bios doesn't support an auto wake up feature. You could schedule a windows task to run at the time you would like your machine to wake up. You may need to have your computer be in sleep or suspended mode for that to work however. even if the bios does not have a wake up feature, you can set the bios to automatically power on when the power supply senses mains power. so turn the pc off, hook it up to a lightbulb timer and set the timer to whatever time you want. when the timer hits the time you selected and turns on the amins power, the pc will sense mains being flicked on and it will boot up. |
