One of my Astropulse units sat at the bottom of my list in "completed awaiting validation" status for several months (I got it in February). It was on its third wingman, two having timed out. About a week or two ago it simply vanished - no credit given and no indication of what had happened to it. Of course I have no record of the WU number so can't identify it, but I thought I ought to inform you anyway: hopefully it is just an isolated incident, but it does appear that the work has been lost.

Does this happen a lot?

More than likely the third partner returned a valid result, the validator gave you both credit and removed the WU from the database after 24 hours as its designed to.

Otherwise, if the third partner had returned an invalid result, the WU would still be in the database and you'd see their result with an error message.

It definitely vanished - I've only got credit in the 20,000 region (restarted SETI after a long layoff, last activity was SETI Classic), and would have noticed another 1200 coming in. It was after the recent cutoff of new AP units, and my graph on BOINC Manager was comparatively flat.

I suppose it's possible that it has been validated but not credited to me, though I usually review the task list once a day and would have noticed it finally validating (I think) :-)

According to Boincstats your credit was 1300+ for 13 june and 1200+ for 11 june.
Could it have been one of those?

With the stats server falling behind, would you still have noticed if it was validated, granted and removed before it displayed on the website? :-)

It would have a hard time validating without granting both quorom partners their claimed credit as the system is designed (and has seemed to work flawlessly thus far). The only time a user doesn't get their credit from the validator is if they returned invalid work, but if yours was marked invalid, then another workunit would have needed to be sent out so that the other person's workunit can be validated (because it requires two to validate), and the workunit should have still been in the system.

Of course, its entirely possible that yours was marked invalid, an additional workunit sent out and returned, validated between those two computers, and the result removed from the website all before the replica database had a chance to catch up and display to you on your daily browsing to see that you were marked invalid.

All of that is just speculation though. Virtual Boss's showing of your granted credit jumping by nearly 1,000 seems to indicate that you were indeed granted your credit without you noticing. :-)

Also missing astropulse credits, 2 of them actually. 1 finished around the 23:rd and the second finished 25:th. None of them are showing in the list of pending/finished or validated list, and I havn´t received any credits for them either.

Hi,

I have a WU in my account (#466204143) named "in progress" but it`s not on my computer 4907288.
My fellow-worker is all ready with it, can't get credits though because my pc doesn't have this wu on it (anymore?)
If I had finished it (which I don't remember) it would have been until friday 26th because then I went into the weekend and didn't run the pc.

What can I do?

Regards, coolwalda

coolwalda,
you have been hit by a "ghost"-work_unit (wu). Something that happens from time to time to many of us here. There is nothing you can do to redownload that wu. Just go on, that wu will "time out" in your results and gets reissued to another host.
If you feel the overwhelming need to have a clean results list, you could detach and reattach, but that would make your host loose all the work it has stored in local cache.

I can go a little better than this on a similar problem.....there are 20 WUs listed for one of my PCs, that the PC does not have. Yes, 20 of them and all sent at the same time! Looks like I'll have to do a detach etc. Grrrrr
