Actually the headline on the front page of CNN does not match the first line of the article. The article says 5:20

This has just been confirmed by the BBC too.

He is normally described as a singer. I think that his dancing has been a massive influence on modern dance style and that will ultimately be what he is remembered for.

I may have been the last person to say something snacky about him on this website - I hope it's clear I didn't wish him ill in this way. My sympathy to his family.

I was having loads of fun ripping on Michael in WoW's Trade chat. Several morons refused to believe he was dead because CNN was late in reporting the story.

Only because of what the media have had you believe (unless you know him personally, in which case I'll retract that comment). Sure, he was eccentric, but the world would be boring if we were all the same.

I have every admiration for him. One way or another he touched the lives of millions of people - testament to that were the 50 sell out shows (That's ~ 1,000,000 tickets!) due to start at the 02 in London next month, one of the UK's largest venues.

He was a tormented soul. A real image of what a harsh upbringing with very ambitious parents and being famous already as a child can do to a person.

I hope his children now have a chance of getting a relatively normal upbringing.

Yes, he invented moon walk, and his music will stand for the next decades. Let's remember him for his talents.

Rest in peace, Michael.

I was never really a fan, but, the Thriller album and video, were awesome and I can't say more than the above comments.

Well I guess I can say that I was lucky. I did know him personally. His home here in the Santa Ynez Valley (Neverland) is across the street from my kid's school. From time to time he opened it up to the kids. I also had some business dealing with him in the early 90's. However, the last time I saw him was before the criminal trial in Santa Maria.
Was he strange, yes, like a frighten child. He really never grew up. Well, at least he had not when I knew him. Like a young boy he had no concept of the value of money. When I was negotiating some things with him he would say that his accountant told him he needed to earn $9 million a month to make ends meet. So that’s what he wanted. His negotiation stand was always I need to make $9 million a month. He could not understand the value of things, only his needs. His judgment was not very good. He really over paid some of his people who promised big things but never did anything. He trusted some people who were not looking out for him and ignored advise that was in his best interest.
His whole thing about sleeping with young boys was the result of his not growing up. To him it was just a slumber party with his friends. In his mind he was just a troubled teenager. Fame was always a mixed blessing for him. Not something he really understood. His obsession to perform was driven in by his family when he was growing up. You got love from daddy when you performed well.
I can understand why he would give someone the “creeps.” But I will always remember him as an inspired and talented child artist.
RIP kid.

As I said, I was never a great fan, but you, Carlos, have eloquently expressed, my own feelings about Michael Jackson. Used, abused, taken for a ride and lied to - thats just the tip of the iceberg. I always felt, that, emotionally, he was still a child - children tend to be more honest and open, than adults and I can quite understand why he might have preferred the company of children to adults. Once the manipulative adults got involved, thats when his real troubles started - all they could see, were $$$! Without a doubt, one of the greatest showmen to have lived, as per the late Freddie Mercury.

R.I.P. JACKO

A great performer, a wondrous dancer, (I want to think) a pure soul, maybe too pure, too childish. THE KING OF POP.

In memory of:

Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough

Rock With You

Billie Jean

Black Or White

Heal The World

We are the world

And much, MUCH MORE...

Goodbye Michael
