We had a very rare appearance a few years ago (2006) that was visable as far south as the LA area. Here is a picture taken near Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains.

Thanks for the help with the resize. I'm awake now.

I know what water rafting is.. ;-)) but WHITE?? whats
that about?

White water is where the river is moving rapidly over rocks and such, and it gets all churned up. This makes it look white. This is a pretty typical photo.

I went on a white water river rafting trip once, down the South Fork of the American River in northern California.

At one point during our trip, some of our people were swept out of the raft by waves. Those in the river lost their paddles. Several of the people still in the raft put their paddles down in the bottom of the raft in order to help the others back into the raft. The waves swept those paddles out of the boat. When this was happening, I was bumped forward. There was a wide web strap wrapped around the boat just in front of me. So as I was knocked toward the strap, I opened my hands for just a fraction of a second, in order to grab the web strap. Thus I held on to my paddle and the strap. Once I recovered, I heard the guide at the stern of the boat shouting orders like "Left turn", "Back paddle", and such. So I started to do as he was ordering. He ordered a left turn so that we could "eddy out" towards the shore. Well, since I was the only one in the boat who still had a paddle, we did a very wide turn to the left, missing the beach where he wanted us to go. Now the river was very high at that time since it was spring and the snow was melting and rushing down the rivers. So the water was as high as half way up the Oak trees on the river banks. As we were making the wide left turn, we ended up going through the trees, and everyone ducked down in order to avoid being hit by the branches and being knocked out of the boat. Finally we came to a stop as everyone reached up to grab a branch as it went overhead. Then, moving hand-over-hand, we pulled ourselves through the trees and toward the shore.

I went on a white water river rafting trip once and afterwards decided that it is something that people of sound mind and body do once in a lifetime, and people of not so sound mind do every summer.

Another photo from the American River in northern California.

You can see why it is called "White Water River Rafting".

See this site for some videos. Listen for "Satan's Cesspool" which is where we lost all of our paddles except mine.

Hi all what nice pictures. Living in NY state we get to see the northern lights occasionally.
Most times there are small but about evry 5 or ten years they are huge and fill half the sky. Ive seen green red white and a light bluish color. The red is really freaky. its like the end of the earth color to me.

I found a pretty cool description of the American River run here.

Some of it gets rather "jargony" but it was interesting to read about what I experienced when I was there.

You will see descriptions and tips on traversing the rapids.

e.g.

African Queen (class II+). Several willow-covered islands create a multiplicity of routes. The most common is right almost all the way, cutting left to avoid a shallow-trap at the end of that channel. This route passes some nice surfing waves near the second island. The most fun route is left over a one-foot falls (not for rafts under 1700 cfs), then center thru a very narrow slot between islands. The far left channel is boring.

The class designations indicate the difficulty, with IV- being the most difficult on this section of the river (see image below), and II being the easiest thing that can even be called a "rapid", instead of a "moving lake".

My brothers and I ran the Cataract Canyon Class IV Rapids on this same very day last year and it was phenomenal.

Hi Moon, yes its much rain.
But the flood is more on south of bavaria and austria.

Here its hot and humid and lots of thunderstorms.
But nothing critical.
Perfect weather for holidays LOL

Hei again Giuseppe! ;-)
Yes, of course you can post a photo of your work! I`ll send you a PM. ;-)
Are you soon finished with your studies, or is there still a long time
left? ;-)

It would be interesting to study architecture. ;-) Once I even thought
to become an architect.. But for one or another reason I never went that
way at all.. Still, some "inferior" buildings Ive drawn and got built.. LoL
and its even possible to live in them. Thats good enough for me.. ;-))

Today I've found a clue in an old E-mail in my HD: that was about a song by Milla Jovovich, 'cause yes, she sing also. I liked her album "The Divine Comedy", but unfortunately I've lost it... :-(
Anyway, HERE'S the song, live. Title is fitting: THE ALIEN SONG ;-))

Bye Bye!
