I notice you uploaded a couple that have been marked valid on one of your machines today, so that's a good sign. One of those tasks was uploaded not to long before mine, so I'm hopefull my task will validate pretty soon, and I can try uploading more.

Edit: validated, so I'm going for more.

Update:

All my "Validate Errors" have now been moved to "Validated" or "Completed, Waiting Validation". I would guess another incarnation of Eric's "script" - on the ball as ever.

Likewise. And the operative word is All. When people started commenting on 'validate errors' relating to the last 36 hours or so, I had a look at mine. Three or four recently, not worth commenting on: but about 25 in all, spread over the last month or so. They've all changed status now (I didn't keep a list, so I don't know what they've changed to!).

A magic script indeed. Thanks, Eric.

Wild. Mine are all gone, presumably validated (from invalid). Of course, there must be lots of extra results out there being worked on needlessly (more results than required for the quorem). Of course, they might have just deleted the invalid wu's and I would have a blank slate.

Does anybody know why the valid wu's are being posted (for a while at least) as invalid? Or is the Eric-script yet another bandaid.

It usually happens (like now) when there are problems with file uploads. Your computer spends ages trying to upload a file, and eventually thinks that it's gone and the server has got hold of it. And as likely as not, you need new work too, so you request that: and while you're at it, BOINC 'reports' the work it's just uploaded.

But if the file upload server is in a mess (as it probably is, because we're having all these upload problems), the validator can't find the file when it tries to check it - so there's nothing (it thinks) to validate, and hence the error.

I think all Eric's script does is to tell the validator to go back and have another look.

I still have got one validate error (439906704) of the three ones I mentioned in "AP WU not validating" thread.

The workunit was crunched on my main computer, which have been very stable from the beginning though being overclocked. I think the reason for failing the validation is that it was reported too early after uploading. The two other results, which were resent, completed and deleted, reported at the same time and had same problem, but looked valid as compared to wingmens results. Claimed credits were also equal to wingmens claimed and granted credits.

Could Eric or someone else at the lab run the script on this workunit?
