And I should take the opportunity at this time to recognize The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. The NFFF supports the loved ones left behind when a Firefighter is lost in the call of duty. Pierce Manufacturing has done some wonderful things in support of the organization...... With the support of Harley Davidson, they raffled off a one of a kind custom bike last year with the proceeds going to the NFFF fund. And they are raffling off two of them this year. Support them if you can. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

The Los Angeles sales office have come up with a Cunning Plan to boost replacement truck sales. Ouch....THAT's not the way we wanna sell fire trucks. Although we have sold a fair number of trucks to LA, I can't tell with the cab submerged if that's one of ours that took the plunge or not.... And another batch of trucks I personally have worked on this week.... Pierce County Fire Department #5 Gig Harbor, WA St. Germain Fire Department St. Germain, WI Woodstock Fire Rescue District Woodstock, IL Lake County Fire Rescue Tavares, FL Parker South Metro Fire Rescue Authority Centennial, CO Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District Lisle, IL City of Atlanta Atlanta, GA "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

Thanks Dirk.... It's a good feeling to know at the end of the day that the trucks I help build help the men that use them to save lives. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

Just last week I was working on an order for the Berkeley Fire Department for a couple of aerial ladder trucks and several pumper trucks. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

Yermo CA has a Volunteer fire department, Their trucks are I think mostly second hand donated trucks, their latest was a pumper from somewhere in Southern CA. Savoir-Faire is everywhere! The T1 Trust, T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, America's First HST |

The Los Angeles sales office have come up with a Cunning Plan to boost replacement truck sales. The story was on our local news. They were responding to flooding due to the broken pipe under the street. The street was floating on the "bubble" of water and there was no visible hole om the pavement. L.A. Public Works even said it'd likely carry cars without the slightest trouble. When the truck drove onto that section of street, it was heavy enough to buckle the pavement and fall into the cavity under it. I'm surprised, the BBC usually does a better job: It was not "thought" -- it was reported. |

He bought one from Yermo. A 1935 Mack pumper. It's in the restoration barn now. He has more trucks than many departments. Last time I stopped by he had 5 Ladders, about 20 pumpers and a several even older than the Mack. He even has a horse drawn steam powered Ahren Fox pumper. |

In 1992 the University volunteer fire dept I went to school at still had 1942 Peirce in active use. The Dept. was all students except for 2 or 3 full timers for the summer. 2 trucks I think the Peirce was the ladder truck. They got a "new" 1970's truck the last year I was there. Climbed the ladder on the new truck at Home Coming that year. I think they gave the 42 to a museum the next year. |

I have heard many stories of Pierce fire trucks that have been kept in service long beyond their 'normal' service life. There must be fire truck junkyards somewhere to search for spare parts. The fire truck I was working on today was for... City of Pensacola Fire Department Pensacola, FL "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

A brush fire had broken out, and the local all volunteer fire department arrived on the scene. The old fire truck rolled to a stop in the middle of the fire. The firemen very quickly put out the fire. The fire department was given an award for bravery above and beyond. When asked what he was going to do with the $10,000, the firechief answered that first he was going to get the brakes fixed on the BLEEEEP truck. BOINC WIKI |

Merrimack, There's a name, Otherwise known as the CSS Virginia which fought the USS Monitor to a draw back in 1862(and a noisy one at that I'd think). What does this have to do with Firetrucks? both a the time were powered by steam back then and both had something to do with fire, one put It out(or tried to) and the other could cause It. :D Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
