As the title says. I would recommend this for anyone running more than one CUDA project - it fixes a major bug when switching from one CUDA task to another. But if you don't run CUDA, or your CUDA tasks never get pre-empted, there's nothing new worth upgrading for. |

I am still using Cruncher's 6.1.0 version, mainly because I started with this version and just like the way things are. Will this have any impact on the crunching in the long run when more and more crunchers shift to the newer versions? Or is there going to be any updates to Cruncher's 6.1.0 version anytime soon? And I don't use any CUDA cards. ______________ |

No need to change, then. You've survived the releases of v6.2.19, v6.4.5, v6.6.20, v6.6.28 .... FYI (and for any other readers): Crunch3r released about five different clients, all under the v6.1.0 label, with various improvements. You should be running his v5, where 'Return Results Immediately' has been changed to 'Return Results after 60 seconds', to avoid potential validation errors. And his client isn't actually based on v6 code, so many of the things you might read here about v6 (separate program and data directories, security accounts, separate graphics applications) don't apply to v6.1.0 - but if they don't cause you any trouble, that's fine. As to updates - you'll have to ask Crunch3r about that, and he doesn't visit here much any more. No idea. |

I've downloaded the 6.6.31 .sh file on my Linux box and installed it. But the BOINC manager says "Connected to localhost (6.6.29)". Tullio |

Richard, Thanks for the info. What a big difference with the preempting. Just for the hell of it I sat there last night suspending tasks and not a single computation error! (Had just had 6 in a row with some newly downloaded CUDA tasks while waiting for the 6.6.31 download) My downloaded 32 and 64 bit versions OK - all Windows. John. GPU Users Group |

Thanks for the info, Richard. I wasnt aware that there were newer versions of Cruncher's boinc client as they all appeared the same. Didnt pay attention to the version number at the end. I just downloaded the latest files and installed on my machine, however, the message shown is still the same "-delayed return_results_immediately (1 min)". I didnt find any entry with 60 seconds. As you mentioned, I havent had any issues using this client, so I shall continue to use the same. ______________ |

I downloaded it today June 2. It is the 32 bit version. I notice it downgraded the floating MIPS from 1352 per core to 1072. Einstein graphics is still working, QMC graphics is not and climateprediction.net graphics crashes with segmentation error. It did not work with 5.10.45 but QMC did. Tullio |

I'm curious about this benchmark thing. Someone was moaning about it in the credit thread last night, so I looked through the code change logs: there hasn't been any change in the benchmarking code for at least 8 months (just a few extra tests to make sure they ran for the proper length of time) [doesn't rule out a compiler, or compiler flag, change though]. What happens if you re-run benchmarks again by hand, at a time when you know that the CPU isn't busy with non-BOINC tasks? The automatic run immediately after an upgrade always seems to be suspect. As to the Linux version, I'm out of my depth. You'll have to wait until Martin, Jord or one of the other Linux gurus checks in (but I have posted a link on the BOINC Dev message board). |

I have run the benchmarks, with similar results (1088 floating, 2552 integer). I have two AQUA units running before the BOINC upgrade and the values are still higher (1352,2755). But this is no problem. Cheers. Tullio |

On the BOINC message boards 6.6.31 is given as a development version. When I downloaded and installed it the BOINC manager says "Connected to localhost (6.6.29)". So am I really running 6.6.29? Tullio |

I'm happy with 6.6.20 as It seems to be more productive than 6.6.28 and probably the same can be said of later versions, Besides I only do Seti. CA HSR built a foundation, is laying Track! PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550 Loco, US's 1st HST |

When I saw that it no longer appeared on the BOINC home page I switched to 6.6.31 on my Linux box but it seems I am running 6.6.29 instead. I would not have downloaded a development version. Tullio |

My Linux version I downloaded yesterday also says 6.6.29. I did notice this with a previous Linux version so it may just be they forgot to update the version number on this release. GPU Users Group |

Is anyone running 6.6.31 on Vista 64? I am not running it in service mode to avoid problems with CUDA not working. When I shut down BOINC manager and choose to stop tasks also, BOINC manager quits but all tasks are left running. BOINCtray and BOINC also in memory. If I try and kill the tasks off manually I get computation errors so don't really want to do that. When I reboot it starts automatically so I can remove it from the startup group to work around this. Not 100% sure if this happened just with 6.6.31 - may have happened with .28 and I didn't notice. Will try regression to earlier versions night to see if they are OK in case something funny up with this PC. GPU Users Group |

If you go to version history on the BOINC home page version 6.6.31 is not mentioned. The last is 6.6.29. On the BOINC message board for the client 6.6.31 is considered a development version. Tullio |

I am looking at Boinc all and Boinc Download and they are both showing 6.6.31 as the Recommended version. for all but Mac OS. GPU Users Group |
