are you sure thats not Tina Fey

BTW the RED state ..err outfit she's in certainly is a bargain compared to the nameplates she was wearing during her VP run.
She looks like shes doing an ad for lenscrafters now.
Also, aren't we over the flag pin thing yet? We know where we live and wearing a pin does not denote increased patriotism. It does imply a deep insecurity or a need to constantly be reminded what flag she likes

You do not support the display of the American Flag? There is one where I work, should we take it down? ... lol

I wear a flag pin every day. Not out of insecurity, but out of honor and respect for my country.

I have multiple flags all over my work cube...we used them for a celebration party a couple years ago and I nabbed a few back then.

In Spain the only day you can see lots of spanish flags all over the places, hanging down of private balconies, terraces and buildings, official buildings and so on is October 12th, Día de la Hispanidad<-----
Some people try to revindicate more political independence, power or financial grantings. Some try to remember past history and wish to be linked to the former pre-constitutional order of Franco.
But I think that spaniards are not so enthusiastic with their flag as the US citizens are....I guess Hollywood has some things to say about this too!!

Big Mac, meet Mona Lisa; chain opens by Louvre

ASSOCIATED PRESS

October 6, 2009

PARIS — French culture and American convenience will come together in December — thanks to plans by the McDonald's restaurant chain to hang its shingle in the shadow of the Louvre.

McDonald's is delighted at the prospect of feeding hungry culture vultures. But not everyone is happy about mixing high art and fast food.

The McDonald's will be installed in the food court of the underground mall adjoining the museum, known as the Carrousel du Louvre, as the fast-food chain fetes its 30th anniversary in France, McDonald's France said.

The pairing could serve the interests of both. The Louvre is the world's most visited museum; France is McDonald's top market outside the United States.

The McDonald's on the famed Champs-Elysees Avenue is the most profitable in the world, the fast-food chain's chief executive, Jim Skinner, said in an interview published in the economic daily Les Echos.

Louvre spokeswoman Aggy Lerolle said it is not up to the museum to veto McDonald's arrival since the Carrousel is run by a private company.

Ah come on. She's good looking... attraction ends at a dead stop there though.

Got to hand it to the Republican party though; they knew enough to realize that their constituents would support a beautiful woman on that angle alone.

At 125 miles range is it only a scud killer. Idiotic to even think that if they were deployed in Europe they were for the protection of Israel. To protect Israel they would need to be deployed in Jordan and Syria or maybe Iraq.

Or Israel, which already has elaborate defense systems. The optimal window for success is when the missile is closing in on the target on the way down.

at mach 5 its unlikely that a missile would catchup. interceptors intercept in mid or terminal flight and generally attack head on not from behind

Alleged hoax was a sin against the American spirit

October 20, 2009

It turns out the parents of “balloon boy” may have been full of hot air. And now they’re in hot water.

Richard and Mayumi Heene met in a Hollywood acting school, but their performance doesn’t seem to have fooled law enforcement authorities in Colorado’s Larimer County who say that charges will soon be filed against the couple in the great balloon hoax.

Unless you spent last week floating 8,000 feet above the ground, you know that people around the world were fixated on the story of a giant amateur weather balloon soaring through the Colorado sky. On the ground were the Heenes, shedding tears and expressing fears that their 6-year-old son, Falcon, was onboard. When the balloon landed, and there was no Falcon, many Americans assumed the worst — that the boy had been onboard but had fallen out.

Now authorities maintain that the whole thing was a hoax. The Heenes, who had no qualms about turning their young son into a stage prop, sought publicity for a reality show they were proposing, according to the sheriff. How appropriate that it was that same hunger for publicity that may be their undoing.

Authorities said the giveaway for them was an interview the family did Friday night on CNN’s Larry King Live. That’s right, just hours after learning their son was safe and sound, the Heenes were ready for their close-up. In the interview, the Heenes asked their son why he had not come out from hiding when they called his name. Falcon responded: “You guys said we did this for the show.”

Kids say the darndest things.

The Heenes have repeatedly denied that this was a hoax.

If the Heenes made this up for attention, they should be ashamed — and punished. The stunt is despicable. In fact, it’s sinful. It sins against the American spirit. One of the best things about this country is that, when Americans think there is a crisis and someone needs help — especially a child — we drop everything to lend a hand.

When word spread that Falcon might have taken flight, the National Guard deployed two helicopters to shepherd the balloon while scores of police, fire and medical personnel on the ground were on alert. All over America, people said prayers, held their breath and hoped for the best. No surprise there. Of course we reacted that way. We’re Americans, and that’s part of our fabric.

The Heenes knew this, and they exploited it for their 15 minutes. If the authorities prove their case in court, the Heenes should spend a lot longer than that paying for this stunt.

And it's funny, no?

That's the point. It's a joke and it is not meant to be taken literally. If you have read other posts, you will see what I mean.

Union-Tribune Editorial

Obama vs. Fox
White House shows immaturity, thin skin

October 22, 2009

By brazenly declaring war on a member of the Fourth Estate, the Obama administration is making a first-rate error in judgment.

Just because White House officials, and maybe even President Barack Obama himself, don't like Fox News doesn't mean they have the right to decide that the network is — in the words of White House Communications Director Anita Dunn — “opinion journalism masquerading as news.” Nor does it have the right to try to isolate Fox News by urging other networks to shun their colleagues because, as White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel put it, Obama does not want “the CNNs and the others in the world [to] basically be led in following Fox.” And it certainly doesn't have the right to call on other media outlets to do what Obama senior adviser David Axelrod wants them to do: join the administration in declaring that Fox is “not a news organization.”

Come again? Did we really just hear top White House officials try to rally the media to gang up on a single network because the administration doesn't like the stories it produces? What would James Madison say? The father of the Constitution took pains to establish the idea of a free press acting as a watchdog on government. Whether the levers of power are controlled by Republicans or Democrats, and whether the press is liberal or conservative, makes no difference. What matters is that the press be able to do its job, and that government stay out of the way.

Not only is it dangerous and wildly inappropriate for the White House — any White House — to start compiling enemies lists, it's also not very smart. Government should not make a habit of insulting and isolating a major news organization. Better to just ignore whatever bothers you. Otherwise, people might get the idea you have a thin skin and that you have something against being asked tough questions.

And the next thing you know, there are tough questions coming from all directions. Earlier this week at the White House press gaggle with reporters, ABC News' Jake Tapper tore into White House press secretary Robert Gibbs. Tapper wanted to know why the administration thought it was appropriate to single out a specific news organization as inauthentic and then invite everyone to pile on in an attempt to marginalize critics. Gibbs couldn't come up with a good answer, and he frankly seemed surprised at the question. After all, isn't ABC News part of the club? Why would one of its reporters defend the opposition instead of just going along? The best that Gibbs could do was to insist that this was the White House opinion and it was sticking by it.

Bravo to Tapper. But shame on the White House. It's behavior is outrageous and petty. It can't win this battle, and it should never have engaged the fight. It's time to stop picking on Fox News, and start showing some maturity. Freedom of the press is not something to be trifled with — especially when it makes the powerful uncomfortable.
