Both won't hurt but I don't think it uses the one in the Boinc folder. The app_info doesn't point to it. I've been kinda watching your posts about your lock up problem. Couldn't say much as I don't have the problem but I hope this fixes it for you. PROUD MEMBER OF Team Starfire World BOINC |

I'll keep you guys updated for sure. I had to RMA my card as it started to die on me a couple weeks back and the new card still locks up with CUDA, meaning it's either an architecture issue or a CUDA issue. You will be assimilated...bunghole! |

Thx. Actually I did both...but seems to be working fine. :) There was a report on the lunatics forum about how 185.85 + Cuda 2.2 solves the problem some people (myself included) have where the Seti-CUDA task will simply lock up at random intervals. We shall see. I actually had that happen here, But I don't think My problem was the same as I reduced the number of cpu cores to 3 from 4 on My Q9300 cpu and the problem went away, I think I have a power supply problem as My 850w psu was only equipped with two 6 pin pci-e cables and was never designed with such a modern card as the GTX 295, I had to resort to the stock adapters that came with My BFG card to get the card to run, Both of the 6 pin connectors are feeding the 8 pin port and the 6 pin port is being fed by a molex cable from the OCZ GameXstream 850w psu, the only larger and Newer power supply that I have is a 900w OCZ ModXstream psu and I don't think It would fare much better. If You want to see My PCs specs click on My PC Specs in the sig for more information. I need to get an Enermax Revolution 1050w psu sometime in or after December 2009 when I may have the money. Well after leaving it running overnight I have not had a single frozen workunit. Yesterday evening the entire computer locked up, however...which was new. I uninstalled and reinstalled the video 185.85 drivers and since then no problems. If the stability continues, we may have a winner. You will be assimilated...bunghole! |

This question has been asked elsewhere, but I've not seen an answer. What cards support CUDA 2.2? I'm running the 185.85 drivers and the dll's Raistmer posted at Lunatics but I see CUDA 1.3 in the BM startup messages. Boinc 6.6.28 is now the Recommended version for Windows PC's, Boinc 6.6.29 for Mac's. Claggy |

Heh, well it could be that the computer locking up was a hardware issue. Came back from errands this morning to the smell of blue smoke. Looks like the video card toasted itself. :-P So in two weeks when the RMA arrives I'll try again. You will be assimilated...bunghole! |

If you're already running with an app_info.xml file, then it's an easy and worthwhile upgrade. You need to upgrade to the Nvidia 185.25 drivers first, and then just replace the runtime and FFT files (cudart.dll and cufft.dll) with the ones from Raistmer's post - follow Claggy's link. Because the files have the same names as the ones you're already using, no other change is needed - you do not have to edit app_info.xml "Error Will Marshall! ERROR! All my CUDAs have gone to "Compute error," so I have placed back my original "cudart.dll" and "cufft.dll" files. I have installed the latest Nvidia 185.35 drivers and I then replaced only the "cudart.dll" and "cufft.dll" files from Raistmer's post via Claggy's link. My BOINC directory is "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu" directory. I only saw 2 Dll files in the Zip. Perhaps I overlooked something. Regarding the "runtime" post part, not sure what that is. I installed my Raistmer's files back on March 15th or so, perhaps a newer version is out. Help! Dave Here are my details after I placed back in the original 2 Dll files. You need to upgrade to 6.6.20, Unless You want to run the obsolete Team Mod and the equally obsolete 6.4.7 as 6.6.20 was the recommended version and I run It with no problems here. Hey Super Joker, Sounds good! I'll upgrade to Boinc 6.6.20 and then add on the 2.2 Dll files from Raistmers V11 Cross Watch Seti app. |

Make sure in Your projects folder You have a file called "Number_of_GPUs"(No quote marks) there and in It You have either a "1"(No quote marks) or a "2" as the number depends on how many gpus one has in ones PC at the time, I have 2, So mine has a "2" in the file and nothing else either. Of course the other V10 dll file and the part of It's app info file was handy. Savoir-Faire is everywhere! The T1 Trust, T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, America's First HST |
