Running 6.6.23 as of Last Night out of frustration with 6.6.20 performance. 6.6.23 was no help 2 260 GTX Video Card, one has 2 1920x1200 monitors plugged into it, the other has none. (Configured for Multi-Monitor SLI). SLI is not in use. No Overclocking is being done. Started out 2 days ago with it completing the work units in 9-13 minutes when PC is in use. One GPU flopped over to over 1 hour with the normal 2.5 minutes of working being done per unit. The the other fell into the > 1 Hour then > 2 hour.. one GPU was not being used at all the default Core was at 300mhz and the memory was at 100mhz. Rebooted didn't fix it, then went to 6.6.23 now it's working the GPU's more (Fans blowing hard, and it's getting warm in here) but still takeing > 1h to do a block, even with no apps running, and minimalized processes running as well, no user interaction for hours. ![]() Any Ideas? Thanks, Rob |

CPU is water cooled and I've never heard that fan kick up, the fans on the video cards adjust as the heat (Load) goes up. Without Boinc Running, unless I'm in a 3D game the video cards are almost silent and cool. Boinc Was 2 days ago were at idle levels and doing WUs in 11-15 minutes, now BOINC is not only generating load on the GPU it is now taking 6-7 Times longer (> 1h) to process a WU. Yes, I checked for work unit size, giving the same credit as 2 days ago. |

I would suspect you've found a VLAR. Its a known problem that they take a lot longer than they should Different versions of Boinc wont help. You might try one of the VLAR kill mod apps available from Raistmer (See number crunching forum) But you should also increase fan speed as those cards are running a hot. My GTX 260 is over-clocked and seeing temps in the 70s. I see one of your cards is over-clocked as well (the one on the right in your picture) Bob ![]() Do you Good Search for Seti@Home? http://www.goodsearch.com/?charityid=888957 Or Good Shop? http://www.goodshop.com/?charityid=888957 |

set the fans to 100% it cooled them down to 60C which was nice, but it was like I was living in a computer room again. Didn't make a difference, they started at 11m per WU then after several hours it was back to > 1h WU. Loaded the optimized builds for this pc, the cuda stuff doesn't come in. So I got my peace and quiet back, and will wait til cuda is a bit more stable before trying it again I guess |
