[Edit: I'm curios to find my own freeware bandwidth measuring tool. I'll post back if I find something.

NetMeter

That's what I've been using for years. It's as good as any other tools currently out there.

Great. Now how about one that wil lmeasure my LAN - which has consumer grade router for the connection.

I wish there was a free tool that could differentiate between LAN and Internet traffic but I haven't found it. :-(

I know a tool that can distinguis (wire shark), however, it is NOT designed as a measurement tool, it is designed as a debugging tool. In otherwords, way too much information, and none of the right kind.

Give the freeware version of Netlimiter a go.

I use cable (1Mb/250Kb, 25Gb cap) for live stream DL and DSL (500Kb/500Kb, no cap but unreliable connection in my building) for torrent. It would be nice to see them separately too. The cable company does have a usage page but it's usually 24 to 48 hrs behind. I've had several months where I was within a few KB of getting surcharges of $1.50/Gb.

Not sure why it's so different there to here.
My ISPs usage page is generally no more than about 30min behind.

When you are the oldest cable monopoly and have a presence in over half the country, you do what you want. The company also controls a large chunk of mobile communications services. Customer service is only a priority in the adverts. They keep pushing the idea of live streaming in their advertizing, but even at the highest residential speed/caps, I know I'd be hitting surcharges every month.

The telco is no better, they limit the bandwidth of third party ISP customers, although they try to deny it. My torrent software is max out at 300Kb, but direct DL of Boinc or browser are at 500Kb.

Did everyone have to keep quoting my typo on "curious"? :)
"Life is a tragedy for those who feel, and a comedy for those who think."

"I never get into an argument that I cannot win."
