2001 still mesmerizes me every time I watch it.
It's quite interesting to see movie "tech" that we actually surpassed by the real 2001, and the tech that we won't likely accomplish before the 21st century.

Uh, it is the 21st century; you must mean the 22nd.

It's sad to think we'd be so much further along today if Apollo (moon program in general) hadn't been a single goal, but a "milestone" goal that was 1 step in a larger broader initiative that would have continued w/ a colony, Mars exploration, Mars + colony....Jupiter manned mission etc.

40 years of continuing progress at the pace of the Moon initiative, might have actually come pretty close to A.C.C. & Stanley Kubrick's vision.

Perhaps my 3 Y.O. will live to see the vision realized in his lifetime........

Its always fun to think "what could have been if I/we didn't do this/that didn't happen", but I think it happened because it was supposed to happen. I think that any advancing civilization has its own period of a Dark Age no matter the planet.

I'm afraid we might be taking this too far off topic, but to answer your question, my setup is only 110w/ch with 4x15"s w/build-in subs. I once connected a 12" sub to my setup but it actually had no noticeable effect on the listening experience (I'm assuming because the built-ins were better than the external 12").

My good friend Larry, who died almost two years ago now :_( was really into Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Sabbath and the like. His favorite band was KISS though. Too bad we didn't have enough cash to go to KISS's reunion tour that came by here about 4 hears ago.

Concerts don't seem to be as much fun anymore without him.

Then I listened to Pulse & saw Live @ Earls Court....whereby my mouth hit the floor..... : > O

Bought P.F. Live @ Earl's Court on Laser Disc & then waited impatiently for release to DVD after all these years. In 06' prayers were finally answered.

God, I love to throw that into the player, crank-up the juice till the house shakes and watch it on the plasma. Sends a cold-chill up my spine every time I watch it : > )

Strictly nose-bleed section but, with Pink Floyd, that’s probably best as, even at that distance, the wattage made my body vibrate and the best of the light and laser show could only be appreciated from a distance.

I've been to dozens of concerts since. Nothing even comes close.

Used to concert hop w/ a buddy of mine. He had been to just over 400 at the time, offered & I turned him down on that one. Came back & said "OMFG...the best show I've ever seen! Dude, you totally missed-out!".

I still feel like crap thinking bout' it 15 years later : < (

Change of group: WHo the heck ever would have thought Allison Krauss would be the reason we don't get to see a Zeppelin reunion tour!?!???? Yeah, OK...no John Bonham, but Jason sounds just like his dad & son "stepping-in" for Pop for this type of deal is A-OK w/ me. Really wanted this to happen in early 90's, 'cept Jimmy Page was too busy w/ David Coverdale album & tour @ the time.

Now Bonham, Jones and Page are "in" but Plant doesn't want to give-up on his collaboration & tour w/ Krauss. Heard somewhere they were offered over $400M for tour and album deal. Largest ever.

Would have traveled cross-country and paid stupid $ to see Zeppelin in concert.....

Yeah, but rumour is that Page and Krauss are, well, you know, playing patty-cakes. Money can never beat that.

Get a copy of the Division Bell tour DVD, widescreen, headphones on, and crank it to eleven. (I don’t do drugs personally, but smoke a few if you got ‘em). The experience is pretty close and the sound is likely better.
