Am I the only one or are there others that are experiencing going backwords with the new ASTROPULSE V5 units?

I currently have five V5 units working on my computers.

I have lost almost 200 places in BIONIC Stats. Thought it might get better with time but doesn't seem to.

Most of the units I have finished have failed twice with others.

Might be a great way to crunch the numbers but it is not good for the people with one small computer. A week or more to process a unit - working at 100% 24/7 itn't going to keep people interested. Several weeks for someone who does not keep the unit running all of the time certainly is not!

You can select not to process those units in your account page. Too bad that many of those units are discarded by people interested in RAC more than seti.

@ wolfcsm

You don't use optimized applications for SETI@home Enhanced and Astropulse.

The calculation speed would increase ~ 50 %.
And your RAC would be the double.. ;-)

Have a look here in my profile and follow the links.. :-)

Might be an issue of not understanding what they are being sent.

It might be worth asking folks if they want to process units that will take several days/weeks to process one. If they understand upfront they can make a decision. Right now, in my case, I see my numbers going backwords, 5 big units sitting on my systems and no clue about these new V5 units.

And I just might be more informed than most.

The reason you are going backwards is because your standings, total credit, and RAC (recent average credit) are all based on the tasks that you have completed, reported, and have a successful wingman do the same for the exact same work unit. Once the credit is granted, that is what the stats measure in terms of position. If you're spending two weeks (or more) processing one task and not turning in anything else, total credit will become stagnant, and RAC will begin to drop.

On the bright side, the ap_v5 tasks grant ~1200 credits, so just having one of those validate and give you credit will probably move you forward at least 100 places, if not more. It will just take longer to get those credits, and process the work unit.
