I thought this one was pretty clear. Bernie wants to put a spending cap on the sport to make it more affordable to more teams. The big players (Ferrari, ect.) use the sport as a marketing tool. Why would you pay half a million for a car if it was not made by one of the willing teams. The idea of getting a Mercedez even crossed my mind last year. Shame on me. To Ferrari, et.al. money is no object. They are willing to pay what ever it costs to win. Because wins equals sales. If they are limited to the same budget as say Force India or Brawn then the odds of them winning is reduced. Take this year as an example. Brawn came up with a winning package. Ferrari is now spending millions to match and beat it. Under the spending cap they would be out of luck. There is no way they could make the chages to match Brawn this year. The big boys simply do not want to have thier hands tied. |

I´m not sure in wich world Max Mosley is living in. I dont think its on the FIA to reduce the costs. Hi techonlogie cost money. If the teams dont have enough they should just quit racing. I think thats just a mighty game. FIA tried it 3 years ago. On the other hand if the 8 teams cancel the contract formula one is dead. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

I do not believe any one team can race in F1 by going the cheap route. Has it ever been mentioned what type of fuel costs the teams incur for A season? LETS BEGIN IN 2010 |

I dont think the costs is the problem in this crisis. Its more the rules. FIA will give some hanycaps to the teams. Lets say Force India can use 18000 rpm with the engine Ferrari 17000 and Mc Laren 17500. Thats stupid thinking. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Are the F1 cars running with restrictor plates this year? I know Nascar has been using restrictor plates for several years. LETS BEGIN IN 2010 |

NASCAR only uses restrictor plates at Daytona and Talladega in an attempt to keep the cars under 200mph. The full bodied cars do strange things above 200. Calm Chaos Forum...Join Calm Chaos Now |

One would think with all of the technology they could make the full bodied cars stable above 200mph. LETS BEGIN IN 2010 |

They can, in a straight line, but when those corners come up at 200+. A couple of years ago someone (I think it was Rusty Wallace) took the new Sprint Cup car to Talladega for a test without a restrictor plate and ran a lap at 225+. But he was alone on the track, not with 42 other cars disturbing the air around him. If he had had a drafting partner, you could add at least 10 mph on top of the 225. It's been there a couple of years on the Cup cars. It is a true wing instead of a spoiler. Calm Chaos Forum...Join Calm Chaos Now |

Yes its a new rule. Front wings are wider and rear wings are smaller to reduce top speed. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |
