Most of mine is definitely AP. The ratios are interesting. Ahh, I have 68,287.64 pending with a RAC of 6,800.79. That would suggest my RAC hasn't leveled out yet since it is at 10:1. Possible RAC direction could be 68k/7.6 = 8.9k.. would be just that little bit on the low side (the goal is 10k). But my order (AMD Phenom ][ 940) is has arived today and is now waiting to be installed :D :D 10k RAC here I come ;) The SETI@Home Gauntlet 2012 april 16 - 30| info / chat | STATS |

I have an idea for reducing the pending APs and thus shortening the TTL (time-to-live) of AP work units. Most important effect would possibly be to reduce the load on the database. Annddd that would be? a) Reduce quorum to 1 b) Stop sending AP's c) Something else? LOL |

I have an idea for reducing the pending APs and thus shortening the TTL (time-to-live) of AP work units. Most important effect would possibly be to reduce the load on the database. I thought you'd never ask. :) How's that for baiting? Call it eHarmony for work units. When a client reports a completed work unit, the validator as part of it's normal validation process could mark the other "in progress" task with a flag saying to the effect "ready for wingman". Then, the next time the wingman's client communicates with the host, it could pick up that flag and use it as part of the client's logic for determining high-priority tasks. So the client would always work on "ready" tasks first. The trick would be to make sure those tasks don't interfere with truly high-priority tasks based on deadline. I'm sure I haven't quite clearly described this thoroughly. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. "Life is a tragedy for those who feel, and a comedy for those who think." Annddd that would be? Get Seti management to send MB's to CUDA only and then for cpu it is AP or nothing. Or get MB app written to work on the 8 MB files, i.e. not split into 350 KB chunks, which was done originally at the beginning of Classic because most of us where on slow speed dial-up, and then for one download we could do MB and AP processing with a 50% credit bonus for doing both parts. |

Has some merit, but unfortunately wouldn't have helped This one or any other slow hosts that only have one WU and dont contact the servers unil it is done. |

Yes, it would mostly be effective on hosts with a large cache. "Life is a tragedy for those who feel, and a comedy for those who think." "I never get into an argument that I cannot win." |

Get Seti management to send MB's to CUDA only and then for cpu it is AP or nothing. Oh no !!! ... The thought of slaughtering all those poor little VLARs is making me ill. |

20535 pending, 1413 rac 14.5:1 I don’t really mind because I’ll get credit for them eventually. I am kinda of curious to see how big the ratio can get.. . Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas. Albert Einstein |

20535 pending, 1413 rac I think what is currently happening to your pending is that you worked other projects and came back to seti. You processed a bunch of work right away while most people have to work through their cache to get to the work you've already done. I'd bet your pending goes down to about 4-5X:1 once you've been crunching seti regularly for a month or so In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

20535 pending, 1413 rac When my RAC was ~5,000 a few weeks ago my pendings were ~84,000, 16.8:1. But in the last 10 days I have had several good paydays. Two days have been in excess of 12,000 so pendings now only 69,165 and RAC up, so ratio much lower now. |

20535 pending, 1413 rac That, and I have only just begun accepting AP units (optimized of course) so I bet that is a part of it. Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas. Albert Einstein |

My Pending to RAC credit for my fastest machine is currently at about 102.000 to 8.300 or about 12.3 to 1. This is with a reasonably fast Phenom II X4, doing almost only AP, and no CUDA. My take on the PC to RAC ratio, is that it will be different from machine to machine. With a fast machine you will naturally have to wait longer for credit. Large caches would affect this too. With a large cache, WU's could sit on your PC for some time before being crunched (potentially up to 9,5 days), and this will give slow wingmen (with a standard Seti cache size) a headstart, and shorten the time to report after you do (some may even report before or at same time). Both of these will affect your PC to RAC ratio, and I don't think we can calculate a constant. A very fast machine with a small cache, would have a high PC to RAC. A slower machine with 10 days cache would have a lower PC to RAC. |

15.75 : 1 And my RAC is dropping. lol. @ Rob Neff Your pending is nearly 6 times my Seti credit total. Now that’s embarrassing.! Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas. Albert Einstein |

Pending credit: 49,248.49 [incl. CUDA overclaim! AFAIK: - ~ 26 % really] 36,443.88 pendings.. RAC 14,469.19 Ratio: 2.518722886353693606898520235065 ;-D Current the RAC isn't stable.. because no stable tasks/cache.. Normally it was ~ 15,500 - 16,000 RAC |

@ Rob Neff Kenzie, it shouldn't be embarrassing really. If you had a bunch of machines at your disposal, and a willingness to babysit them everyday (and babysitting *IS* required), you'd be right up there too. Everyone here does what they can and that should be good enough for anyone. I just happen to be in a good position at the moment to do a lot of SETI work. :) Funny to think though, that if I stopped crunching all together that my credit total would still go up by 2 million over time. LOL.. Rob never has to turn on his furnace, Rob never has to diet cause he is running around like a chicken making sure things are working right, Rob has to eat PB&J ALL THE TIME cause he doesn't have time for anything else...and if he tried to nuke a pizza he'd blow a breaker... Rob will likely be the first person visited by the men in black from crunching packets for SETI. Pending Credit: 373,709 and growing. Great job people!
