Germany is the only country still using quickly downloaded work units and computing projects. Computing Projects are hijacking our computers in every sense of the word, stealing our GPU and CPU power, along with our bandwidth. The main problem seems to me that Seti servers are just to slow, and error prone, in sending out work units. Sort of like trying to watch a slow streaming movie that hangs every few seconds. |

Sooo your thread title has nothing to do with the thread content. What is it you are trying to say about Hollywood that got you talking about Germans? In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

well now, I guess it doesn't matter, since Seti stopped sending me cuda work units. Anyway I found out later my son had launched a program that had three instant messaging services running together, and they had been dragging down my connection. Cuda's not a problem! While I've got your attention, I'd like to sell you on the idea of buying a quake sensor to run the Quake Catcher Network on your pc. The way it works is, in addition to any work unit number crunching you've got going on, QCN runs alongside them, not in place of them. If you've got a dual core cpu, now you can run 4 threads at the same time with QCN, or 8 threads at once with a quad core cpu. Cuda still represents just a single thread without any additional bennies for running it. |

LOL So you thought it was SETI without verifying/checking first? No wonder your initial post seemed far out in left field to those of us who haven't experienced whatever it is you thought was a problem with SETI. Oh, and that makes this officially not a Political thread, but a CUDA "problem" thread, so I am moving this out of Politics and into the CUDA forum. |
