I was 14 before I got my first computer, which was a Packard Bell 486DX (sorta miss the "turbo" button) 33mhz with 4 mb of ram and 64 or 128k (cant quite recall) of video memory. I cant quite find a pic of it, but it looked a lot like this:

It was with some trepidation that I opened this thread, considering the title. (A dirty mind is a terrible thing to waste.)

The first computer I had was a hand-me-down C-64.

But the first one that I bought with my own money was only a couple years ago. A used Compaq EVO N600c similar to this clunker.



It was the computer that I first crunched Seti with.

I don't remember the technical details but using standard apps it managed a rac of about 70. :D

Apples only get thrown out If their rotten. My favorite Apple was the IIc, I never owned one, But It was My favorite Apple computer none the less.


I currently have an Atari 1200XL that one day will get a new motherboard, Pokey chip and a psu brick and yes I can get all of those brand new still(for less than $100 total).

My Apple ][ still works too ( I don't miss ths 300 baud Apple-Cat modem though.. it WAS a little slow). I also still have a Laser 128 - Apple compatable that works. I really didn't want to move to a PC platform back in the day, but when it came time it was either a PC or tbe first Mac. I used a Mac at work and didm't like it. That and at the time not only were there few applications and accessories available for the Mac but they routinely more expenive that what was available for the PC.
