Hopefully in a day or so we will have the optimized apps ready to go as well. Ah, I was just about to post with a general inquiry on a timeline for that. I'm assuming win32 will come first with Linux32 to follow later, like usual? Linux laptop: record uptime: 1511d 20h 19m (ended due to the power brick giving-up) |

Hopefully in a day or so we will have the optimized apps ready to go as well. Will they include an app_info.xml designed to run the 'old' optimized app alongside the new one? Someone needs to help mop up the old outstanding WUs. |

Hopefully in a day or so we will have the optimized apps ready to go as well. I'm sure that can be made available, but Lunatics need to do a lot more testing, and then some package building, first. The number of packages recently has mushroomed, and with the 'combination' AP / MB / CUDA variants, each one has to be updated when any one component changes. It all takes time. |

Has anyone received an actual Astropulse version 5.03 work unit? Been looking for one for 24 hours but no luck. Boinc....Boinc....Boinc....Boinc.... |

Has anyone received an actual Astropulse version 5.03 work unit? Been looking for one for 24 hours but no luck. I've got an app_info on all of my rigs. I -could- download the stock 5.03 app and inject it into the app_info, but I was planning on waiting for lunatics. Kind of a shame that they got r103's crunch time to come down by a large margin and then the splitters shut off. From what I hear, this new version is somewhat similar, but will not validate against the old version. I'm hoping the analysis loops are still the same so that the optimization techniques won't have to start completely over. You know, a kind of "recycling" old techniques sort of deal. I received one today. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=413448865 I haven't started it yet. Also a bunch of astropulse 5.03 apps/upgrades downloaded with it. One of my wingmen already had a compute error. |

Haven't seen 'them', in a few days now. I have still about 15 AP WU's pending, most of them crunched with r59 and and a few, most have validated and creddited, with r103[Don't panic!] But when I look at some of my wingmen, what do I see??? Some of them just deleted or rejected or 'whatever' these WU's, so it has to be send to another wingman. I have a few that took 3 wingmen, now thats a waste of time!. And, I.M.H.O. it's not fair, they DO have to be 'crunched' and make up part of our search of Extra Terrestrial Intelligense. ![]() |

Has anyone received an actual Astropulse version 5.03 work unit? Where can this version be downloaded ? Have you a link ? Can we use it in parallel with the v5.00r103 using an app_info file ? Thanks in advance. |

Has anyone received an actual Astropulse version 5.03 work unit? Hi, it's the latest optimized version, this one, comes in place of the old one. Just edit the version number in your app_info.xml file. Although anew version, is in BETA, for testing and will be released, in the near future. I don't think any AP WU's, are available, I haven't seen any for a few days, now. Probably, they wait till the NEW version of AP, will be available. Then, new AP WU's, can be generated and send out. Here you can get the latest AP_ r103 , SSE(3) optimized version, AP r103 ![]() |

The optimized app is not released yet. I'm talking about the stock version that downloads automatically if you don't use the optimized apps. Matt posted that the new ones are going out but I have not seen any myself. So again.......has anyone actually downloaded the Astropulse app and a work unit to crunch being versions 5.03? Probably, they wait till the NEW version of AP, will be available. This is the one I'm using (11h for an AP WU on my Q6600 is much better than the stock version indeed ;-) OK, I don't want to go back to 'stock' for the moment, I will wait for the new opt. For the other question, I received 2 AP WU in 24h, but those were only old ones, resent due to some failures of other crunchers... As usual, thanks for your reply... |

Out of curiosity, because I want to get a baseline (as painful as it may be) for the new 5.03 tasks, I manually downloaded the stock 5.03 app, and was planning on splicing it into my app_info.xml file. Would it go something like this? <app> Not sure if the libfftw still needs to be referenced, like I know r103 had it statically linked, but it doesn't hurt anything to call it anyway. At the moment, I know no work is being sent out, but I want to crunch at least one 503 WU with stock to see what kind of improvement the opti app can do on my rig. That looks good to me - astropulse_v5 twice is definitely the way to go. As you hint, you can add that block into an app_info referencing r103 @ v5.00 and any flavour of MB (CUDA or AK_V8) - that will enable you to polish off any v5.00 resends that may come your way, and whatever MB takes your fancy. |

Ok, a couple of questions. First, can I just copy and paste from Cosmic's post into my app_info.xml file? Second, what is the purpose of the indented text in my current file(One of the complete combo packs). |

Ok, a couple of questions. You can: be careful to use a simple text editor like Notepad only. Second, what is the purpose of the indented text in my current file(One of the complete combo packs). To make it easier for human eyes to read, and check that the 'beginning' and 'end' tags match. The computer couldn't care less. |
