Im off to bed..

but since we are on about these seagulls, I`ll tell you another
small story about them.. ;-)

When I was a kid, and actually up to 1994 we had sheeps here. And of course, every summer we used two weeks to cut the grass, to make winter food for the animals. Since this is an island, we also cut the grass down to the sea-line. And one of these places were a very loved spot for the seagulls to make a nest. That was not what you may call optimal circumstances for us as workers. hehe. It was terrible difficult to get the job done when angry seagulls was diving from above to take our heads ;-) Normally we got rid of them by taking all the eggs, and when that had happend a couple of time, they usually left, and found another place to stay.

One particular year, we got a new couple on this special spot. It was a Great Black-backed Gull couple. And they were obviously young and determined to have this great place to have their kids. As usual we started to take all the 3 eggs. They made new ones. Again, we took the 3 eggs. They made new ones. After doing this 4 times, and they still just continued to make more, and Not move, my father took a whole bucket of gravel and pored on top of the nest, after again removed the 3 eggs. After just a day or two we saw the seagull couple lying there again. When we went to have a look at it, we found that they had removed Every little stone, one by one, out of the nest. hehehe. They had made 3 new eggs, and seemed to be very happy with themselves. ;-) Next step for us was to again - remove the 3 eggs, and then put a BIG rock in the middle of the empty nest.
Yeah! Now we have got them. Finally. ;-)
Its all about to be smarter than seagulls.. thats the whole trick. ;-))

Next day.............. the seagull couple was lying there again... They had made a new nest, right beside the big rock. Now they even had sort of a shield to the north, so even more cosy. LoL. 3 new eggs... and they were happy as never before.

We desided to let them stay. They had won. And we just had to cope with it somehow. The strange thing was, that because of our occourance around their nest over and over again, they had got used to us. So they didnt care about what we were doing some few meters away from them.. ;-)

We and the seagulls lived in peace with each other the rest of the summer.............

Life is strange these days.
I just collapsed at noon and was in hospital for an hour or so.
My blood pressure was incredible high.

Hi klc53, thanks for you interest: right now I'm feeling good, the disease is passed by, or so it seems, 'cause in the last months it comes and go...
BTW, I must say "weather" is really weird in these last years and, as Mike just said, can provide some bad things to people. I also think this strange behavior is man made, more than most of you could think. But this seems to be a LONG, LONG story and i don't think I can afford it here, all in english language :-|

See you soon
