I'd love to have proper Winters like that if I was geared up for it. I've had winters like that for 57 years, and I'm fully geared up with assorted snow shovels, snowblower, chains, sanders, salters, etc. I still hate it. Every shovel full. |

Took a look at the top pic and the first thing that popped into my head was all right just wait till I get that snowblower driver I'll give him "orders" as Andy says IF we got winters like you do we would be prepeared for it,but even in the North of Scotland winters like this are fairly rare much less the South west of England they get rain more often that not. Took a look at the top pic and the first thing that popped into my head was all right just wait till I get that snowblower driver I'll give him "orders" If you're referring to the poor slob shovelling his roof, I don't think you can blame the snow-blower driver. Those are just drifts. Had to do this myself as a teen, on houses in Manitoba and in Edmonton. Fortunately, by the time you need to shovel the roof, there usually are drifts big enough that you can just walk up. Another thing commonly done when the drifts get this big is to take a picture of a snow mobile parked on your roof. Many people seem to think this is funny. |

Although the snow and slush was largely gone from the roads it has now started to freeze over. Tomorrow morning will be very interesting. especially if we have the occassional snow showers predicted for the early hours of the morning. |

Yeah It looks bad, But the Sierra Nevada mountains get more normally I think and California is supposedly in a drought. But that's snow business. :D Savoir-Faire is everywhere! The T1 Trust, T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, America's First HST |

Andy-What's your total snowfall so far? Thanks for the link, Andy. Very enlightening. Nice pictures, beautiful scenes. Had to laugh while reading the 'snow-ball fight etiquette' article. There's one universal truth; kids will through 'snow projectiles' at moving vehicles. Always have, always will. Warmed up today. Was nice this afternoon. Face didn't freeze when I went outside. Stinkin' 'ot! Got the mulcher back from the mower shop this morning, but could only run it for an hour before I overheated! Have retreated indoors for several litres of ice water. The garden is growing wild, and I can do nothing until the heat goes down. Local footy club's clock/temp display had temp at 48 degs C yesterday. (48 C = 118.4 F) |

Yikes...those temps are insane. The hottest I have seen here in my corner of Ca have been 113 F for two weeks. Now a nice cool 16 C in the house. Sorry about the two different temp posts, but I am too tired to convert the first one, the second one I know by heart. Pluto will always be a planet to me. 'Unter Valley here, Monday... about 50km inland from Newcastle. 3 o'clock, I went for beer. (No point in doing anything else...even the fish are havin' a siesta! Outside temp indicator in my car sez: "44 Degs C" At least the humidity has dropped a bit, so the perspiration evaporates from your skin! Last week was like a sauna, high temps with high humidity. |
