snow, snow, snow.. I was driving in a snow free corridor Yesterday, As I could See It less than a mile away on the ground in some places, If the storm had went on the snow would have stuck in inhabited areas too. :o And the puddles here have melted from their black ice states now, As the Sun is up and the Skies are Blue again. This is the river behing my house today, shot with my cell phone. The ice jam just started to break-up. 'Black spots are 55 gal. drums, which means docks along the river, somewhere, were trashed. This was the same spot one week ago, river frozen over and covered with snow; also taken with my cell. |

I bet that is making a spectacular noise KLC? More rain and maybe snow are predicted for the area and on top of that the state of California is being a pain in the backside on the budget and My ssp check and that's driving Me up the wall too. :o Savoir-Faire is everywhere! This is the river behind my house today, shot with my cell phone. The ice jam just started to break-up. Growing up in several small towns in western Canada, I remember that the ice breakup was always a big deal. In one placed, the locals would place a junker car on the ice in mid-winter, chained to the shore, and then sell lottery tickets on when the car would fall through the ice. Proceeds always went to a local charity. In another town, I remember the locals phoning each other when the ice started to move out, even at 2 AM, and everyone would go down to the one bridge in town and watch. A real party atmosphere. And yes, it can make quite a noise. 6C and foggy here this morning. A lot of snow gone in the last few days, but slow enough that flooding is not a big problem - yet. |

He had heavy snow storms last night in my area. The Autobahn was completly closed for hours. It was maybe 15 KM away from my city. No single flake here. One of my sons is living there will call him later. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Rain is picking up here, and the chance of flooding. This brings the Weather Threat Alert Level to sort of burgandy, but more mauve, with a bit of purple, kind of. Here is what the gov'ment has to say: A low pressure system currently over Illinois will track toward Lake Huron tonight then eastward to Montréal by Thursday morning. Rain in advance of the low has reached southwestern Ontario and will continue to spread north and eastward through the day to reach the Ottawa Valley by evening. For most locations, the rain will persist for approximately 24 hours with rainfall totals expected to be near or in excess of 25 millimetres. Due to frozen ground and a saturated snowpack, this meets Environment Canada's rainfall warning threshold of 25 millimetres in a 24 hour period. KLC53, you should get this by Thursday as well. |

Last week there was snow everywhere chaos across the country and I had to dig my car out. Today I had to go to Bournemouth (about 110 miles south west of London). Roads were clear just a hint of left over snow in some fields. I stopped in the motorway services on the way back, and the sun was shining, the air was warm just like an early spring day, gotta luv the UK!! Bernie. |

Superjoker, if we could only find a way to get water to you, we'd have a billion dollar idea! And Andy, it was funny you mention the noise from the ice jam. I didn't really notice it until I played back the video I had taken. That's when I heard it loud and clear. I guess when you've lived near the river all your life like myself, you become unaware of those sounds. You kind of take things for granted. Is this weather, like, the first sign of the apocalypse? By the way, I haven't seen anything on the thread from our Aussie mates. I hope they're O.K. 65°F Current:Mostly Cloudy Wind: SE at 3 mph Humidity: 27% Wed 61° | 38° Thu 40° | 27° Fri 40° | 23° Sat 34° | 22° |
