How do I get boinc to save the preferences? I go to Advanced > Preferences.. to open the BOINC Manager - Prefrences. But anything I change does not get saved. It just ignores my changing of the preferences and sets them back to some default that's using just about all my resources. Here's what I'm looking at if that helps any. - 2560x1024 (PNG 952 KB) I can't figure out why it doesn't let me save preferences. All my other computers do without a problem. I'm not sure what all info I should provide.. if it's not found in the snapshot, ask and I'll post it. |

What are the permissions on your BOINC Data directory set to? wherever you put it. Exit and restart BOINC, then if you can (open BOINC Manager and) read the messages, it'll tell you where you put the data directory. And am I reading that correctly, are you running BOINC as root? And why? Running as root is a very insecure and bad thing to do. Just install and run BOINC with a user account, it'll do all and everything without a problem under a user account. see http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Installing_on_Linux for the normal run-down on installing and running BOINC on Linux. There is really no reason whatsoever to run BOINC as root, ever. |

Oddly on my other comp.. BOINC will only run as root, it fails to connect unless ran as root, so I've just been doing the same with all my other computers till I ran into this one running debian.. and I've never ran into so many errors as with this OS. I think I mostly have it running now though. |
