Computing and credit
Total credit 11,335
Recent average credit 803.88
Pending credit: 14,890.68

My "Pending credit" is growing faster than my "Total credit". Is there a chance that the 'pending' credit units would end up timing out or never be credited.....waiting for someone else to validate it?

What happens if you complete work units and no one ever validates them....do they stay pending forever?

With the new Astropulse WU's a lot of people have been really slowed down turning in results. Your pending credits will be there until another person finishes it and it is validated.

As for ever validating, I'm not sure but I believe the WU is sent out 8 times. If no one gets good results in that time the WU is pulled. Since you got good results it is really doubtful that 8 other people wouldn't.

Just wondering, If you did complete an AP WU, and for whatever reason it was sent out 8 other times but none of those results were good and the WU ended up being pulled, would you still get credit for it seeing as you completed it?

I'm having a similar problem, but my Pending Credit is MUCH bigger...

Currently I have a Pending credit of 185,912.62 including such gems as...

Task ID 1064882357
Name ap_03no08ad_B4_P1_00312_20081120_26561.wu_2
Workunit 368292806
Created 20 Nov 2008 19:08:11 UTC
Sent 20 Nov 2008 19:08:15 UTC
Received 26 Nov 2008 4:09:51 UTC
Server state Over
Outcome Success
Client state Done
Exit status 0 (0x0)
Computer ID 4655472
Report deadline 20 Dec 2008 19:08:15 UTC
CPU time 168696.4

So, this WU has been waiting for almost two months for validation... How long does the validation take? Is this normal?

There are rare instances where they do just take forever to validate, but usually not long. You'll get credit for it hopefully as soon as somebody else completes it.

according to server status - the ap validator is disabled and has been for over a day. the wu appears to be an ap unit - ergo we wait until they restore the validator for ap.

The Astropulse validator is turned off, so no APs get validated or given credit.

Matt said in the Technical News on the 15th:

The ap_validator is still offline, mostly. It restarts every 10 minutes, maybe gets a few results done, then segfaults. The astropulse people (not me) are working on it. I know nothing beyond that.

I was wondering if the Cuda app. means more people running AP.I just started yesterday with 4 cores doing AP and the gpu doing MB.I'm used to MB results posting so fast,so my pending is going way up also.I imagine their getting much more work with so many crunchers setting up cc_config files,app_info files...............and the show goes on....................

Oh yeah.. this is going to be a great credit spike when the validator starts processing again.

My RAC is down 1,000 points now (about 30%) in 5 days, and my pending went from 3,000 to 14,000. Now I'm wondering how high the spike will go. My record is 17,193..the fallout from that crash at the end of October.

My pending is through the roof as well. I consistently ran between 10,000 and 15,000. It's now over 42,000! For me, that's the equivalent of nearly an entire week's worth of crunching!!!.

My pending is quite normal, but I last crunched a AP unit about 2 weeks ago when I was testing out the new OS X version. I only have 2 AP units on my pending list and only one of those has both in.

My pending credit is just shy of 50,000 now. I hope they get the servers running again tomorrow.
