could have said this on any or all the other threads that were started because each and every person running CUDA thinks they have the only problem with cuda so they need to start endless Threads which waste more peoples time than its worth. better to add to a thread then waste peoples time

Mark, there is nothing wrong with CUDA overall. It was released here just a little too soon (pressure just before xmas maybe), but then sometimes it's better to release something to find the last few bugs. Remember how long it took before the CPU ap was optimised? I'm sure, given time, the CUDA app will be optimised and the smell will be 'roses'!

BTW I don't run CUDA at all I have nothing but ATI on my rigs. My preference. I'm not going to change cards because it runs seti or any other project. Just saying flaming the project, well its , umm not good

I do understand your frustration. When angry I write what I want to say. read it, delete it and then write it again as if I were going to be the recipient. It's like the saying goes. Don't crap where you sleep.

.....just hope it doesn't taint the science too much before it really gets rank.........

If that were a serious possibility, what does it say about the ethics of the project staff at Berkeley who sanctioned its deployment? I think a little "calm reflection" is in order here?

I have good reason to wonder about the ethics of some involved.......
And I don't think it was at the 'Seti' level.......best talk to those at the 'Boinc' level....

I think we all get the drift. For me, subject now closed before someone gets banished (again!!).

For the record, my current vid card is a passively cooled (for "quiet") 7600GS so I don't have any vested interest in CUDA ATM. But I am watching developments with interest as I could develop an appetite for learning the language and, if and when the bugs are knocked out, it could provide a cost-effective way of doubling my S@H output.

No problem with you Fred.....

BOINC with CUDA works a real treat over at GPUGRID. So at the end of the day it's the project app that is the issue not BOINC. Using my 4 cpu's plus 1 gpu is a treat (just not with SETI)!
