Hi,

I am having trouble getting CUDA working. This is my configuration:

- Nvidia 8800GTX w/768MB RAM
- Windows Vista Ultimate x64 w/4GB RAM
- Loaded the 2.1 Beta CUDA Driver from http://www.nvidia.com/object/cuda_get.html
- Running BOINC 6.5

I did the following:

- Completely uninstalled older versions of BOINC and deleted the directories.
- Installed 6.5, without Protected Application Execution

I see these messages when I start BOINC:

12/29/2008 1:00:03 AM||Running under account Jason
12/29/2008 1:00:03 AM||CUDA device: GeForce 8800 GTX
12/29/2008 1:00:03 AM||Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz [Intel64 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 6]
12/29/2008 1:00:03 AM||OS: Microsoft Windows Vista: Ultimate x64 Editon, Service Pack 1, (06.00.6001.00)
12/29/2008 1:00:03 AM||Memory: 4.00 GB physical, 8.17 GB virtual

And then:

12/29/2008 1:00:10 AM|SETI@home|Started download of setiathome_6.03_windows_intelx86.exe

12/29/2008 1:01:35 AM|SETI@home|Starting task 23no08ab.394.8661.15.8.214_1 using setiathome_enhanced version 603

:(

Any suggestions? I cannot seem to get CUDA + Setiathome working.

Same here. And the fun thing is that my machine DID complete some work units using CUDA, between the 24th and the 26th of December. For a couple of days I had both CUDA- and non-CUDA Seti applications running at the same time (!), and then only the standard CPU application was left crunching.

Of course I did not change any preference, either online or on the client itself. Looks like people at S@H have somehow disabled the CUDA application at their end, although I did not find it mentioned anywhere.

I am running Boinc 6.4.5 and Nvidia drivers version 178.something on a Phenom X4.
Any news welcome.

I had the same problem with my 8800GTS. The remarkable thing is that it allways seem to happen with the 8800 range of cards that have CUDA capability 1.0. Is it possible that SETI is not sending the application to these clients for whatever reason(can someone of the development team confirm or deny this)? 1.0 CUDA cards are perfectly capable of doing the work(I have been doing it for a few days without too many problems) so I don't understand why these cards never seem to get the CUDA work.

Nevertheless, there is a workaround if you download the optimized package here: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=50829

try this http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=50829&nowrap=true#845152

This application is for testing (CUDA), has some unsolved bugs, may result in a (serious) crash of your system. So please watch your system a bit while running.
You can get this in record time with compute errors (reached daily quota of 200 results) and no word done. But if it works it's fast.

Using Raistmer's download works! I'm finally running a CUDA workunit. Thanks. I wonder if the Seti@Home folks are aware of whatever issue exists with their distro?
