Message 843076 - Posted: 21 Dec 2008, 16:03:03 UTC

My team-mate has an almost identical machine, apart from they have a 8600, & I have a 8800 GPU. Now ever since seti-cuda WU have been released... my team-mate can no longer run seti.

Does anyone know of a fix...?

8600 is supported by CUDA.
What you mean under "can't run SETI" It cant run CPU opt app, CUDA app or what ??

Boinc 6.5.0

Hi Guys, It's me who has the problem. Thanks for posting this Paul.
Until very recently i have had no problems and was running an optomized seti.
I attached to Seti Beta when I heard about Cuda and was amazed at how quick these were completed (approx 3.5 minutes). When Seti announced Cuda publicly on their main website i employed "no new tasks" until i was clear then detached from Seti then re-attached so as to start with a clean "bench" so to speak. I subsequently downloaded 80 cuda w/u's which all reported download errors.
Now Boinc reports "no new work for Seti Enhanced" and "no new work for Astropulse". I have since detached and re-attached but Boinc reports nothing?
No new tasks from Seti or Seti Beta.............

I even upgraded from Boinc 6.4.5 to 6.5.0 thinking this may cure the problem and even installed cuda driver ver 2.1 from ver 2.0 hoping this too would cure the problem.
Has anyone got any ideas?? Your help and advice is appreciated.
Paul.

We have virually the same system, hardware difference being the GPU's & software being he has Vista 32bit.

Also, I have been downloading and crunching WU, whilst he is unable too...

And before you ask, we have same version of Boinc, same Cuda drivers...

Looks like he's getting errors because he doesn't have the actual Boinc CUDA app and dll's on his system. He should install the modified CUDA SETI app from here. Most likely he's suffering from what alot of people are dealing with, and Matt posted about here
