You could try and download the stock app. If you're not able to and someone can give a link for the stock exe, you could edit that into the app info file you're using and try and process them that way. From what I can see in your tasks page, I don't see you ever completing a CUDA task without errors. Could be they've already gone off the server. Were you able to complete them with the stock app before?

Ok, well the problem is you probably won't be able to download the stock app thru Boinc , because of a recent limit they put on slower gpu's like yours and mine, if it's still in effect. There is a direct download link to the stock exe which is all you need to try this. Unfortunately I'm not exactly sure what it is, but I'm sure someone will be able to post it fairly soon or upload a copy for you.

You would then repalce the exe file in the seti folder that you installed the mod app into, and edit the app info file for the CUDA exe parts. Of course you'd have to exit Boinc completely before doing this. Keep in mind though there's a whole slew of errors that could be associated with the stock version that they're still trying to fix.

EDIT You could also revert over to one of the AK_V8 opti apps to clear out your cache while you're waiting

PRE-COMBINED PACKAGES: Windows 32 bit Multi Beam AK v8 + Astropulse_v5.0 Science Apps
Are the apps
Cpu-Z
Tells you about your cpu so you'll know which of the apps you can run.

The opti apps install the same way and place as the mod app did.

You can also download the individual opti apps at Lunatics

Edit:You'd have to add a 6.07 tag to the app info file as well, if you decide to do it with an existing cache of 6.07's it's just a matter of replacing eitehr the 528, or 603 tag in the current one. If you only have 6.03 tasks you can leave it as is.

Edit: The 6.08 mentined after this post might work, though I'm thinking it probably has the same driver restriction, which means you'll only have limited amount of time to run the CUDA task, and may not be worth trying the current veresion with an app info file.

Eric has posted over on the Staff board that there is a new SETI_CUDA 608 coming out today or tomorrow if it checks out ok in beta. You might want to see how that goes first.

CUDA 6.08 should fix the VLAR hangs, BSODs and restart problems. It should also make VLARs run correctly on any CUDA GPU. It won't speed up the crunching of VLARs, that's planned for a later release of the application. First and foremost the developers wanted to bring some stability into the app.

Don't confuse the "developers" with the "marketeers". All developers worth their salt that I have known (and that is many) want to do a good job - it's a matter of self-respect. It's the commercial considerations that throw spanners in the works.

Hi,

Does that mean unlike the mod app that people won't need to have driver version 180.48 or above for 6.08 or is that something that can't be gotten around?

It's always best to have the latest driver available. The older drivers may still cause problems.

As for speeding up the crunching of VLARs, my Celeron C2D with my 8500GT card is still holding at about 2.5 hours to run these with Raistmer's V6 app. It's not fast but it sure beats throwing away 60+ credits.

I just wish someone would come out with a package for SSSE3 Cuda and AP. I'm running fairly slow on APs at around 50 hours each. (and I wish someone would get the AP validator back online)

I agree that having later drivers is usually a good idea, but if they're not available....

I was running the Berkeley stock builds successfully with 178.13. That's the release which NVidia declare to be first to support Folding@home. I haven't tested, but I've seen no report that SETI have upped their version requirement since then.

Raistmer's mod fails on 178.13, but runs on 180.48 - I haven't tested anything in between personally. So yes, it's possible that if your driver level is between those two values, and no upgrade is available, then you can run the stock app but not Raistmer's.

There is no minimum requirement on driver version. The application should work fine with all driver versions out there, even though it was built and tested against 181.20

Just to be sure I did ask if there was a minimum requirement, especially for those people with Notebooks by HP/Dell and IBM/Lenovo who are stuck at a lower driver version as their manufacturers haven't updated yet.

The minimum version that enables CUDA is Rel 178.
If you cannot get updated drivers from your own manufacturer, you can try if the Nvidia notebook drivers work for you.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!

lunatics.kwsn.net won't allow me to register to download v5x (x=a or b). I had so much fun with the MB opti apps last year I wanted to register and make a contribution at that time - to no avail.

This year I want to register and download the Raistmer CUDA combo apps, still can't get registered at Lunatics.

Is there somewhere else to download these apps besides as an attachment at lunatics?

Hey, I just tried registering at Lunatics again, didn't get an email, so asked for a re-send, this ended in an error.

Please help.

Did you check your junk mail filter?

Try this link to download his Version 6 package

Thanks, that dl went well.

I've been using Mailwasher (because it has a nifty Bounce option) to filter, so I put my eyeball on each piece of mail on the server before access. Haven't seen an e-mail from Lunatics yet.

You can thank Zoran Kirsic for the download. He posted it earlier in this thread, I just dug it back out.
