more then likely it will give gpu crushers high rca till they make changes then it will norm and then you guys will have a low rca |

just to give you guys a hint on the beta cpu time to do one wu on a 260gtx is Incorrect.. Those are CPU Seconds used in crunching the unit. (Note the work is on the GPU and only uses the cpu to feed them when needed) I was trying to time them last night.. but the two i did varried.. i dont have any firm data on average times (Using 8800GTS's) So dont get your hopes of super RAC monsters yet.. look at this gpu beta ones CPU time 145.5313 Flopcounter: 27893002619049.543000 Validate state Initial Claimed credit 68.5024687836731 application version 6.05 CPU time 164.5313 Flopcounter: 27893002618953.543000 Validate state Initial Claimed credit 68.5024687836731 application version 6.05 CPU time 68.09375 Flopcounter: 8555727561689.327100 Validate state Initial Claimed credit 21.0205025607512 application version 6.05 those for norm cpu ones CPU time 15592.39 Flopcounter: 15879586159931.861000 Validate state Initial Claimed credit 45.4154080963371 application version 6.03 CPU time 13479.3 Flopcounter: 23828833911232.375000 Validate state Initial Claimed credit 68.874558326038 application version 6.03 so it is by far faster about same flops in a small % of the time the time listed is from the start of the wu to the end of it i also have a nv 260 oc vcard 196 cores |

how long actually did the WU take to crunch? The two WU's i ran both came back at 68 Seconds.. They surly did not actually take 68 seconds to crunch.. that's what im getting at. My City |

The S@H-Beta-GPU-app use all Cores of the GPU simultaneously? Why only Nvidia (CUDA)? ATI have the AMD Stream SDK (System Developer Kit). German news show: http://www.heute.de/ZDFheute/inhalt/5/0,3672,7486885,00.html Other homepage: http://www.astronews.com/news/artikel/2008/11/0811-004.shtml EDIT: BTW. I don't have a SETI@home-Beta account.. so I can't post there.. I'm only little curious and would like to support.. :-) To now I have only a 6200 in my rig.. ;-) |

SETI@home beta CUDA requires minimum nVidia Geforce 8 series with 256 MB video memory. ATI not supported yet. Don't know why, just so. And yes, I think, it uses all graphical cores (for one task at once) on my GPU, 112 cores that is. In addition to this info, to join SETI@home Beta Test you need attach to project using http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/ in BOINC 6.4.5, provided that you installed CUDA 2.0 drivers before. |

ATI not supported yet. Don't know why, just so. ATI will be supported in a future version of BOINC, their developers are working with the BOINC developers and projects to port applications. This will take several more months though. |

Because we all want the fastest one.. ;-) In future, the speed of available apps for Nvidia and ATI would be the same? Compared with the same speed, Cores and RAM of the GPU. Maybe an AMD CPU-Mobo-GPU-combi would be better (than Intel) because of the better AMD CPU-GPU-performance? EDIT: CUDA? What's about PhysX? :-D [PhysX would run on nVIDIA and ATI..] |

Please could all contributors to this thread read Matt Lebofsky's note in Technical News today (message 839285): For the record, I have *zero* idea what's going on with the CUDA/SETI@home beta project, except that it now exists and I was just merely pointing out its existence. Please forward all comments/questions to the beta forum, which I assume is being read by the beta developers. Sorry for any confusion. and act accordingly - i.e. transfer all comments/questions about the Beta Test application to the Beta forums. |

Yes.. O.K. .. I know.. but I don't have a Beta account.. ;-) I'm little curious about the crunching-time with the GPU. [The CPU-time is not well to measure the GPU-crunching-time..] Where I can find posts about this topic? |

last time posting er about this 2.5min to 4.5 min on all wu done so far about 200 in one day but i play games alot |

Because about what I read.. The CPU-time is not for to measure the GPU-crunching-time. Because the CPU support only the GPU.. So the CPU-time say only how long the support was.. Yes.. or no? ..I don't know.. ;-) So how you can measure the correct GPU-crunching-time? BTW. And you crunch with an idle Core of your CPU? |

Hi, so far the only way I've been able to find out how long the crunch time is would be to check the log for start and completion times of the tasks. To be able to use the idle core you can check out this message Also we really need to keep discussion of the Beta apps at the Beta site. |

... Also we really need to keep discussion of the Beta apps at the Beta site. Still interesting for a little advance visibility here... ;-) Have you got enough testers having a play or could you do with a few more yet? ... Also we really need to keep discussion of the Beta apps at the Beta site. Give it a go, seems to me they have too many when there's no more work. |

... Also we really need to keep discussion of the Beta apps at the Beta site. The current Beta is Windows only - you'd have to compile your own....... |

The current Beta is Windows only - you'd have to compile your own....... ... OK... Is the Windows side debugged enough to be worth adding a whole new rat's nest into the fun? A help or confused hindrance? Happy fast crunchin', Martin See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

The current Beta is Windows only - you'd have to compile your own....... Only if you are a 100% certified masochist. |
