Well, just hit the 10 year mark. Time sure does fly, when you're having fun. And how things have changed. From SETI classic on windows 98, to CUDA running on Linux and Windows 7, it sure has been an interesting trip. Wonder what the next 10 years will bring, will we have todays version of a supercomputer on our desktop? Will we even still have a desktop? I would think yes, but who knows? It's going to be fun, that I am sure of. Keep On Crunchin'! |

...will we have todays version of a supercomputer on our desktop? Yes. We already have yesterday's version of a supercomputer on our desktop. -- Classic 82353 WU / 400979 h |

Dr C.E.T.I: I am kinda like the Steward in The Lord of The Rings. Just waiting for the Return of The King. But I have no plans to burn myself or my son when he shows up. It's been fun but I can't hold that spot forever. :) |

I'm at my highest RAC ever with 249k tonight. Still room to move up if the work holds out and the APs become more regular. Thanks. |

Yes, Dr. C.E.T.I., but you forgot to mention that Rob is approaching 250,000RAC. What the heck? Those numbers don't fit into reality - wow. Congratulations to everyone on their milestones! Opinion stated as fact? Who, me? |

...will we have todays version of a supercomputer on our desktop? If we can do on the desktop in 10 years what new IBM Sequoia does today, that will be pretty impressive, considering we've 'only' gone from the PIII the I7 in the last decade, which was what I was referring to. Compared to the 1st supercomputer, yep, we're much faster, but in a 10 year timespan, I doubt we'll even come close to running at those speeds of the current crop of supercomputers, on our desktops. |
