Well I did it .I almost killed my drinking.I had to go to the emergency room and check into the hospital.I spent 7 day days hooked up to a IV. I think I ready to quit drinking.I been sober for two weeks now.

I used whiskey and drugs to help me write songs.I dont know if I will ever write another song.Just before I got sick I wrote several songs and posted them at http://www.myspace.com/01976 and at http://www.soundsugar.net/01976.

I probaly will be going through changes now.Wish me luck.

Sobriety or being clean can sometimes lead to a renewal in creative energy...it is worth the effort. Good luck on your new journey

S' not so lonely here..........
There are dozens of folks you can PM if you need a ray of sunshine in a dark moment.......
Hope you do not lose your way........
Alcohol is a hard master to top.........

I know all the ins and outs.......the ups and downs.......the mind games, the lies, and the truth.

Just because I am not winning my own fights with it, doesn't mean I don't know the score......

I lost a brother to it, lost loves to it, lost a lotta life to it.

If you are strong enough to pull up, you are a better man than I, my friend......

Do not look back until you are strong enough.....and when you do, it will still scare the ***t outta you when you remember what you used to do.........

Now you're talking! That's right! There is no turning back! Stay strong Brother! You have the power! Songs come from the heart! Not from some alcohol induced euphoria! You will sing with a new voice! And the world will beat a path to your door!

Way to go Dragonfly. When I stopped cold in Oct 1983, it was extremely difficult as many of my family enjoyed a drink or two when the family had got together on occasions like Xmas. I throughly loved my rum & black, gin & tonic & vodka & orange, as well as numerous pints of lager.

Now the only time that I have a drink is when my wife & I return from these occasions & all I have is a glass or two of sherry, & over the years, I have never exceeded 2.

I used to drink a litr of rum & a litre of gin every day while I was working on the trains back in the 70's, & sometimes more than that.

I only began to notice a year or two after I left the job, that my migranes became irregular & that my drinking habits began to change. It was only then that my friends I had before my time on the trains, began to return & on many occasions when we had events to attend, they always ensured that I only drank sherry & never more than 2 glasses throughout the whole event.

Many of them remain in contact to this day & I genuinely appreciate their friendship. Back then there were no pc's, & from what I have seen on several forums, there are many who have gone through similar themselves and freely give their time to help others.

Hold your head high & continue to do so in the knowledge that you've succeeded for over 2 weeks & say to yourself, i'm going to make it a month, then 3, then 6, then 12 - you will notice the difference in your health & personality & the change will become very noticable by those around you.

Head up & walk tall!
