Thank you for reporting this issue with the translation system. It appears that the site default language is ignored (english) when the system tries to determine the most appropriate language to display a piece of text in.

The issue is being looked into.

The issue is being looked into.

A fix was entered into SVN as revision 17012. Please be patient while the code travels from SVN to the SETI@home project.

The expected behaviour is this:
1) If no language cookie is set the system will use the browser's language string to determine what languages to try. If the first language in the string does not have a corresponding translation the system will try the next language. If no language has a translation the English language will be used.

2) If a language cookie is set then the system will always try that language first - followed by the normal procedure from 1. Hence setting the language to "English" should never produce any text in German.

my system

browser(s)
camino 2.0b2 (1.9.0.8pre 2009022317)
opera 9.64
firefox 3.08

operating system
mac os x 10.5.6

upon loading up http://boinc.berkeley.edu/ on my machine on 3 different browsers, only firefox managed to load the entire page in english. the other 2 browsers display a mixture of english and spanish.

setting the --language-- dropdown menu next to the search form to English sends me to http://boinc.berkeley.edu/set_language.php?lang=en where i am informed that "Language en is not supported"

i thought that was kinda funny :)
