I just cobbled together a Quad-core
AuthenticAMD
AMD Phenom(tm) 9600 Quad-Core Processor [x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 2]

Can be found here:

Ernest

I have done some looking and it does not sound very hopeful to OC it very much, if any.

It is running at 50 degrees C stock, with SSE3 App.

Question for anyone who knows - Can I OC and (now for the stupid question part) HOW?

Cooler is Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 LP. Cooler

(edit): MB is a GeForce 6100PM-M2 with Phoenix Award BIOS.

your temp seem high to me... What method and type of compound did you apply?

My 9950 BE (140 watt) running stock speed with SSE3 apps is stable at 37.5C using AMD Overdrive's monitor with thermaright's best cooler, and slow big fans... had an asus tower cooler, and stock cooling both well below 50c, but noisy. Still playing with an RMA for memory so not pushing the box yet.

The compound was already on the cooler. Remove the plastic cover and install.

I am not 100% sure that Core Temp is reading it correctly, but that is what it is showing.

One of my P-4 HT's is showing 66 C (according to bios)

AMD Quad Core CPU's are notoriously difficult to OC.

You should get a small program from AMD called AMD Overdrive. This is your best chance at getting your rig OCed. Limiting factors for AMD are the usual suspects: cheap mobo, cheap poorly clocked ram, cheap video card, cheap low watt PSU.

there are several videoes on Youtube on how to use AMD Overdrive. I was able to get my 9500 OC'ed to about 2450 before it got glitchy.
