Don't think this problem is related to what is going on with the server. Just checked one of my computer and had 81 'client detached" which is about two days of cruching. The other three seem normal. Any known quick solution or will abort the existing work units and start with clean install. Did all I think that could be done on this computer as for as cleaning cache and restarting client and computer. A waste of time and electric if not going to get any credit or results.

AFAIK the only thing that causes "Clinet Detached" is clicking on the Client Detach button on the Boinc Manager. There is no quick solution other than not clicking the button.

I agree with that 100% but that wasn't done (not saying that I didn't have to it before). Looked at it last night and later this afternoon and it about doubled. A person would have to physically and knowingly do that. Dont think it could be done by itself. Will keep an eye on the status until the morning and see if it improves or keep getting the client detached message.

Thanks bj

Just uploaded a work unit and checked the stautus. It reported it as a client detached so I'm going to abort all the work units and start over. Not going to keep it running and not get any results. Sorry to all that crunching with me but dont know any other way to repair the problem

Downloads and uploads are fine but the results are the problem. I noticed that the RAC on that computer had been going down steadidly for the last few days but didn't notice the messages til last night. Going to try one more thing before I abort the work units. Hope it works

There is probably nothing wrong with that machine nor the wu's. All of my boxes have been dropping also. I think it's a combination of fewer wu's at "premium" angle ranges, plus the "credit police" adjustment has been trending downward for the past month.

I want to make sure I'm understanding what you're seeing, Maybe a screnshot posted here would be better, but you're saying in the Boinc Manager you're getting "Client detached" in the staus column/progress column? Also I see you reported again on this pc and I'm wondering if you're not talking about the task page instead.

The Boinc manager was reporting the tasks and seem to have been working fine. It was on the Task page for the computer (w0bjh2) that the message in the 'outcome' column was showing the client detached.
I was able at one time to save the folder with the work units and uninstall/install Boinc and copy the saved projects folder into newly installed Boinc folder but after the last update; have not been able to do that.
So you can guess what happen when I just did that. But, it is now working fine and not getting the detach message. Unfortionaly; I lost al the downloaded tasks. There will a few wingmen that will not be too happy having to wait for another download but lost too much time.
That is the way I have to be at work. Cant just sit there for hours and trying this and that instead replacing the component and move on. Same way on the computers at home and at work.
Thanks for replying

NP, sorry couldn't be of more help.

You mentioned that you couldn't copy the folder after the last update, and I'm wondering if it because you're not sure where the data folder is. If you are ignore this, but if not for your OS it's a hidden folder. You have to go to folder options and choose the option to view hidden files first. The path to the data folder for your OS is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Boinc.

Glad things seem to be working again.

No problem on the location for XP and Vista's. Have done that many a times when I redo my image because do alot of beta testing and if the comp would go bonkers on me; would just format the drive and copy the image and be back online about 20 minuets. Will be redoing all my computers next month so I guess i'll have to stop download a few days before and start fresh with Boinc. There have been some minor issues showing up on this computer so this will be the first on the hit list.

Thanks again Byron
