Again, I wonder if perhaps this is a project which is adversely affected by its success in terms of numbers of clients. Perhaps some active encouragement of diversion to other projects makes sense.

I have a 10 day cache and Einstein as backup, no worries.

Matt will have it bludgeoned into submission soon.

I just tried that, I still get connect failures, I've left the other 3 PCs alone as It seems useless to do anything there right now.

Wow ... this is the first time I've seen red on the Server Status page.

Vader is having some difficulties as a transitioner, while the downloader on Vader is working fine.

Did somebody forget to plug a dark side cable in somewhere? ;)

I just figure to suspend SETI on each workstation which has a hung on uploading workunit -- those hung workunits will eventually clear so they can get reported and then I will take SETI on those workstations off suspend. I already dropped resource share by 40% to facilitate moving over to smaller but more reliable projects.

I see that a few things went through today while I was at work. Downloaded a full cache of wu’s. :)

Still can’t upload results tho. About 30 in the trough. :(

I wonder if I should disconnect from the internet for a day or two? One less computer trying to access Berkeley might be good and I’ve work on board for 5 days.

I have only four uploads stuck right now, and am downloading work just fine to fill out my three day cache. Not really panicking over here...

If you wanted to see panic you should have been here in May '07. LOL.

I was here in May '07 and I don't remember what happened! I'm guessing it was a big outage. People need to relax a bit. This is just a hobby after all.

Major hardware failure of some sort (don't remember what) and SETI was down for at least a week.

The original Thumper died completely and they had to get a new server from Sun. No new work for about a week, as I recall.

So, obviously, if May '07 was problematic, and the world did not come to an end, then we came through it okay.

... and given that the majority of SETI crunchers are on autopilot, leaving everything alone is probably just fine.

Remember that there are more than 800,000 participants, and less than 4,300 who have posted at least one message this year.

Still think the replacement should have been named "Flower."

... or not.

Hopefully, I represent my 186 constituents when I completely fail to react to any outage less than three or four days.
