So it seems that at least one server is misconfigured - it is trying (and failing) to use HTTP/1.0, when the GET specifies HTTP/1.1 I've not seen a server where you can "configure" only HTTP/1.0 or only HTTP/1.1. The "service unavailable" message probably means that the server you want, and the server that is answering are two different servers. Edit: that'd match with some DNS glitch. |

BUT, what was the prob?It sounds like there were multiple issues being confused and you may have seen one or all of them, including I reckon, still the most plausible explanation was the internet elves fiddling with the wiring, but hopefully they've gotten bored with that and gone home to Redmond. BUT, what was the prob? As stated before, it wasn't DNS related. I still trace the same routes as before, so it wasn't the routing. Now I can only imagine some ISP/carrier along the way messed around with some kind of application layer (5) filering. Or something else I never heard of... EDIT: Both the elves- and the alien-theory are good too. mic. |

BUT, what was the prob? Well, here is a monkey wrench for you. I have a couple of boxes at work that can't reach LHC@home, but the boxes at home have no problem. The problem has been going on for a few days. If I remember the toplogoly right I suspect an interconnect point in the bay area. I'm in Southern California and the ISP with the problem routes into the bay area the other doesn't. Gary |

It was not just Germany users that had problems. I am in UK using T-Mobile and also had problems for last 2 days. All now working OK. Keith. |
