Hello, I am quite new to all of this, and I was wondering how the "pending credit" works, I know by definition what it means. I guess my real question is why does some of my credits come almost instantly and some stay in pending for days sometimes longer? I apologize if this question is "beneath" some of you, I am just trying to get a better understanding of all of this. Thanks, Bryan |

Currently the tasks must be varified before credit is granted. Sometimes you are the first one to return a task so you get pending. Other times you are the last one to return a task so the credit is granted almost immediately. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

Some CPU's crunch faster than others. On top of that many crunchers have a cache of work to carry them through the times when the Berkeley servers are down. All work is currently verified by having at least 2 CPU's do the same work and the answer is compared. If your "wingman" has not completed his work when you return your work it goes into pending. When your "wingman" completes it the system then checks and if verified you get your credits then. So it all depends on how fast your "wingman" is and so forth. Having a cache of work also extends the time as compared to those who do not carry a cache of work. Many variables are involved. Bottom line is don't worry about it. It's credit in the bank so to speak and will come eventually. Boinc....Boinc....Boinc....Boinc.... |
