I was told by a friend of mine that the SETI@home project actually ended like 5 years ago. So... what exactly are we doing? Are our computers just sorting old data or are we doing work for real time projects? I was under the impression this was an on-going project, am I wrong? This bugs me. |

I was under the impression this was an on-going project, am I wrong? This bugs me. Just take a look at the names of the Work Units. See how they start with something like 23ap08aa.21671....? That's the date it was originally recorded- in this case, 23 April 08. |

SetiCLASSIC ended in December 2005. That was superseded by SetiBOINC which had started sometime before December 2005. Later SetiEnhanced came along. And most recently Astropulse started. So Seti workunits have been going strong since May 1999 with only very short interruptions for various technical reasons. Right now we're crunching SetiEnhanced and Astropulse. |

Dr. CETI: Not sure what you're trying to say. If you're saying the idea came from Nebraska, I'm not aware that that's the case. Jenni's friend could've gotten the idea from anywhere. If you're saying that Jenni's a girl, yes, I'm aware that Jenni is a girl's name. She said her friend told her that SETI had stopped. I asked where did HE get that idea because I assume that the friend is a guy, thought that might be a bad assumption. |
