Well, the PC version works great for me, love everything about it. I have always been looking for an alternitave to Microsoft's Inernet explorer wicth if full of bugs, loopholes, and other crap like that.

Message 38322 - Posted: 19 Oct 2004, 21:39:25 UTC - in response to Message 31239.

We now have 50 members. November 9th is the release date for the final version. The Web will never be the same. Also: I found a good website with stats about our team on it: http://www.setisynergy.com/stats/teams.php?team=113694
We still need new members to help spread the word before the final release.

Congrats are in order! But where did you get 04-xi-09 as the release date? Is that the x86 version only?

The Web will never be the same.

Yeah, it looks like it'll be x86 followed by ppc. Pity that Firefox will be updated before Camino and not simultaneously. Oh, well - patience.

Thanks for tring it! Its hard for people to convince opera users to switch, because you dont have as many problems with your browser. IE users have spyware, a slow browser, and sercuity theats just to name a few. So I've been to convince IE users to swicth (not for my benifit, but rather for there's), Because M$ has brain washed them into thinking that the grass is NOT greener on the other side. Im glad to see you tried it. I recommend the following extentions: adblock, Tweak Network, and Print It.
Does anyone else have any extentions/Themes to recommend to other firefox users?

P.S. just for fun get the Delicious Delicacies extention ;)

My suggested extensions are TabbedBrowser extensions (increases the functionality of your tabs!!), the calendar (either for FF or TB), and I also have the Web Developer Tool bar (very useful, cause some pages are VERY not complient and it's easier to get the source code, validate it, etc etc with that extension.)

I personally don't see the point of Print It, I customized my toolbar by adding the print button... I never got into the habit of using rightclick+print.

But that's the beauty of FF, you can customize it to do whatever you want!

Yes I can't agree with you more about the customize part. But I am probably one of the few firefox fan who doent actualy use tabs: I cant stand them. I like print it, because I use right click more than any other ay of printing.

i recommend the "weatherfox" extension...it displays current conditions and the forecast...there are several choices of how to configure it so it catches your eye with the data you want to see...i've tried several weather programs and weatherfox is the best i've seen so far...it doesn't bog me down in detail...if i want that i can go to the weather channel site directly from weatherfox.

I Have chosen to make the move to Linux after many years of considering it. I'll probably get mandrake. Anyways, is the firefox for linux about the same as the firefox for windows? Also, is the Linux BOINC any faster with the SETI WUs? Does anyone know?

Firefox is best on Linux.

Also, is the Linux BOINC any faster with the SETI WUs? Does anyone know?
Look at the user host listings and compare it to the OS being used.

Personal experience: When I'm running Darwin's core (No GUI, no extraneous kernel extensions) a SETI classic WU takes just under 8hrs., while the GUI (OS9) takes 13hr. 4min. I suspect that if you run a very rudimentary Linux and dedicate your CPU's cycles, SETI will be able to use as much as 99.5% of the CPU.

We now have 104 members! And we are still tring to spread the fire. A fire that we want to burn so brite, that even Microsoft can no longer dump bucket after bucket of water to put it out. We need more members to join in order to do this. We need to plow our way to the top, so that more people see us. If you like FireFox, then please help others by showing how great it is.
