Message 843010 - Posted: 21 Dec 2008, 11:41:01 UTC - in response to Message 843008.

30 years ago, I showed up at Lori's place with a vase of flowers....

Her BF at the time did not appreciate the gesture, and sent the vase whistling past my head at about 140mph to the wall in back of me......

It was such a pretty vase too......

Uhhh, msattler, I don't think my boyfriend would appreciate it either if some guy showed up at my place with a vase of flowers. Pretty vase or not. So, maybe you had misjudged the situation there? :-O

Well, my mistress, the furry princess, don't hurl vases with flowers, she just knocks them over. Of course she then can treat herself with a little drink of water, while it's lying there on the floor anyway, that's only a bonus for her. And the vase doesn't break, it's just knocked over.

Well...better judgment was not my strong point 30 years ago....sometimes is not still....

But I am the guy she still talks to....he hasn't been around for many years.

Our youngest, Abigail, used to LOVE going after the Xmas tree mainly to drink the water from the base--last year we put a pen around the tree to keep her out....however this year she's totally left it alone. Now if she'd stop ringing her bell to go out at 2am I'd be thrilled.

The bell now has rung........the time now is here.

It's Christmas Eve, folks.........at least it is here.......

The time for all souls to embrace....
The time, and the spirit, and the true love of God.......

His son that he sent us.......who gave his human life for us all......
That we might be lifted up unto him.

I know that at times, I have been a bad caretaker of his Word.......

I have cursed here to you, and at times been a burden.
But please see my soul, as I wish to see yours.....

The kitties and I love you all.......there's no words......
To express how I feel.....both my love and remorse.
That I cannot always be what you wish for of course.

But the kitties and I, on this most Holy of eves,
Ask you, once again, to forgive me it seems........
If my Lord does do so,, I also hope you can.....
And if not, so it be........
I just hope that my heart in your eyes you can see.

I smile now at you.......and I hope you can see.......
That I love all my friends here, and hope they forgive me.
For when I am wrong........is is bad, at it's worst.
But when I am right, I know you all care for me first.

So I smile now and wander off to sleep with my kittens......
Those wonderful creatures with whom I an smitten.'
They love me as no other, at least not on this earth.......

Only God could love me dearer.........and I think he smiles in his mirth.
And I know that my Lord can see my true worth....

I luv you all,, folks.

I hope some of you forgive me for being an arse once in a while........

And if you do not, I shall forgive you just the same.....

Merry Christmas to all and everybody here. The kitties love you, no matter what. Have a good New Years........hope it was better than my last one was......LOL......

This little bit will not make it into my top 20 poems........LOL.

My wife initially thought I was daft posting on a SETI Forum, then she discovered that people posted pics of thir Kitties on this thread. She now demands that I visit this site regularly and show her any new Kitty pics - None have been poosted for days and she is getting grumpy (not something that biodes well). So Guys (and Gals) please freshen up this thread (Mark and others) with some good Christmas Kitty pics.

Thanks

Tom

Thanks Guys. My wife is now pleased as punch (she really liked the Video Mark). I have been given permission to do a long astronomy session tonight and (weather permitting) tomorrow night - so I am pleased too.

Happy New Year to All when it comes.

Here are some pictures of the cats that Miranda and I have.

Artemis and Shadow are two older ladies (over 10 years each) who Miranda adopted from a shelter well before I met her. Artemis has suffered a few health problems in the past, and took a little while to get used to the new home when we moved a couple of months ago, but she's adjusted well.

Loki was due to be the first we adopted in the new house (the old apartment had a two pet limit). We'd agreed to take him on from an older couple, who acquired him in a most unusual manner - he was found under the bonnet of the couple's car just after a 20 minute journey. He was already weaned, but still very young. He proved a bit rambunctious for them though - we renamed him to Loki because he is all over the place, and is definitely a 'no fear' kitty! He has an especial fondness for anything dairy - cheese, milk, ice cream, anything he can get his paws and face into! We try and keep him off the normal moo juice, but occasionally as a treat we put some stuff that's been formulated for cats down.

We got Apollo a day or two before getting Loki, because we thought that perhaps a similarly aged friend for him would be good, rather than have him bothering the older ladies all the time. We went to a local PetSmart that has a rotating display of shelter kitties who are up for adoption, and found him as part of a litter nicknamed the 'fire ants', due to the colouration of the males. He's a lovely cat that really likes to curl up on my lap. His special trick is when I play with him with a dangly toy - he's happy to jump 2 - 3 feet in the air from a standing start to try and get to it!

When we got Apollo, I was a little sad to see him wander about as if looking for his littermates. Mir and I debated it a bit and decided that we could take on two more, so we went back to the lady who was fostering them and picked out two more from the same litter, Keegan and Toffee. Both were very shy when we got them, and Keegan still is a bit skittish, but they've settled in and can both be very affectionate. Keegan especially loves the fountain we installed so the cats can drink from running water, to the extent where he'll happily stick his head under the flow, or sit on top of it and drink from there.

Finally, a few pics of the cat I owned in the UK are here. Fezzik was a lovely cat, but I wasn't able to spend a lot of time with him overall as a couple of years after I adopted him, I had to move and ended up in a place where I couldn't have pets. Some good friends agreed to look after him for me, and I was able to visit him once in a while. I like to think that he recognised me each time, as he was always came out to see me and was happy to be petted.

He died suddenly in mid 2007. Apparently he was healthy (active, eating, etc) one day and found dead on my friends' kitchen floor the next, in a pose that at least indicated it was sudden and fairly peaceful.

I hope you enjoy these pics!

Day number 181

4:00 pm - OH BOY! THE KIDS! MY FAVORITE!
5:00 pm - OH BOY! DOG FOOD! MY FAVORITE!
5:30 pm - OH BOY! MOM! MY FAVORITE!

Excerpts from a Cat's Diary:
DAY 752 - My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from ruining the occasional piece of furniture. Tomorrow I may eat another houseplant.

DAY 761 - Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded, must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair ... must try this on their bed.

DAY 765 - Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body, in attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear into their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was...Hmmm. Not working according to plan.

DAY 768 - I am finally aware of how sadistic they are. For no good reason I was chosen for the water torture. This time however it included a burning foamy chemical called "shampoo." What sick minds could invent such a liquid. My only consolation is the piece of thumb still stuck between my teeth.

DAY 771 - There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the foul odor of the glass tubes they call "beer". More importantly I overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of "allergies." Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage.

DAY 774 - I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit. The bird on the other hand has got to be an informant, and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room his safety is assured. But I can wait, it is only a matter of time...

This is my LOL if the day...
