I only missed one.

Not sure whether that is a good thing or not. ;)

Anyone remember the "Soupy Sales" Show?

All those pies in the face..............ah, the good old times.

Some of the old Soupy Sales Show is available on DVD, and while it was funny when we were kids, he had some pretty funny stuff that was much more adult mixed in.

I vaguely remember another Australian show that was set aboard a coast guard ship. I can’t remember the title but it aired in Canada in the mid 80’s. It helped kindle my love of all things nautical.

Sorry I can’t be more specific about the details. I was only 5 or 6 at the time and I don’t think that the programme lasted more than one season.

There was a show I liked in Germany and I think it came from Australia. The chicks had pink hair, with a funky haircut, that arched over the eyebrows and had a point above the nose.

Sorry I can't provide more detail, since this is all I remember. Any clues out there?

Uli,

The show you are thinking of was called UFO. It was from the UK, circa 1970. Here's the website:

Enjoy!

You should rename yourself from Rebest to TheBest. That is the one. Will check it out in detail tomorrow. No clue, why I thought it was from Australia.

A very heartfelt thank you.
(Even if it turns out to be a silly show, I was young then.)

Growing up in the 70's in Chicago on WGN-TV I would watch:
Mornings before school started -
* Ray Rayner -- On his first show Ray wore a brown jumpsuit. But it needed something, so Murray suggested the use of notes stuck to the jumpsuit and the rest is history. In a sense, Ray predated post-it notes by thirty years.

* Garfield Goose & Friends hosted by Fraiser Thomas - It would have several cartoons including The Funny Company, Clutch Cargo and Scott McCloud, Journey To The Beginning Of Time and at Christmas time would also show Frosty The Snowman, Suzy Snowflake and Hardrock, Coco, & Joe.

At noon time we had: Bozo's Circus

During the late spring & summer months in the afternoon's you would have Chicago Cub's Baseball announced by the legendary Jack Brickhouse

In the 70's at night & weekends I remember watching:
Hee Haw
Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In
The Smothers Brothers
Love American Style
Sonny & Cher
The Rockford Files
All in the family
Maude
Adam-12
Good Times
Sanford and Son
Jeffersons
Chico and the Man
The Waltons
The Carol Burnett Show
M*A*S*H*
Mary Tyler Moore
Kojak
Cannon
Happy Days
Lavern & Shirley
Welcome Back, Kotter
Emergency!(also know as Emergency 51)
Six Million Dollar Man
Three's Company
Charlie's Angels
Barney Miller
Hawaii Five-0
Alice
Love Boat
Shields and Yarnell
Wonder Woman
The Incredible Hulk

The show was called "Patrol Boat", starred Gary Sweet and was produced by the Australian Broadcasting Commision (the Oz BBC).

Sticking to things Oz, how about Hey Hey It's Saturday, Countdown, and an old Sci Fi show called "The Stranger" starring Ron Haddrick as an alien visitor.

Old pommy shows I liked were "The Sweeney" and the various other incarnations of the Inspector Morse character, "Callan", "New Scotland Yard", a "legal eagle" show called "The Main Chance", "The Persuaders", "Minder" and one about a young private eye that I can't remember the the name of but it had a great blues style theme. That's one thing about British drama series, they always have good theme music.

Yes Blurf.
I wasn't a kid at the time but Star Trek was a Must-Watch along with ...
MASH.
The Man from Uncle Comedy.
To catch a thief.
=========================================================

In 1990 I met an Irish nurse named Anne Houlihan who worked with my wife.
I said "Pleased to meet you Hot-Lips" and she did the Cheerleader thing and said "69 is Divine" and we all burst out laughing except a young English nurse who asked "What's that about? 69 is divine?" Anne took her aside and explained the joke to her.

Uuurm...is that a bit close to the bone Blurf?
It's a well known quote from a very public film!
