I vaguely remember another Australian show that was set aboard a coast guard ship. I can’t remember the title but it aired in Canada in the mid 80’s. It helped kindle my love of all things nautical.

Sorry I can’t be more specific about the details. I was only 5 or 6 at the time and I don’t think that the programme lasted more than one season.

The show was called "Patrol Boat", starred Gary Sweet and was produced by the Australian Broadcasting Commision (the Oz BBC).

Sticking to things Oz, how about Hey Hey It's Saturday, Countdown, and an old Sci Fi show called "The Stranger" starring Ron Haddrick as an alien visitor.

Old pommy shows I liked were "The Sweeney" and the various other incarnations of the Inspector Morse character, "Callan", "New Scotland Yard", a "legal eagle" show called "The Main Chance", "The Persuaders", "Minder" and one about a young private eye that I can't remember the the name of but it had a great blues style theme. That's one thing about British drama series, they always have good theme music.

The Tomorrow People - used to 'jaunt' around the playground : grab belt buckle, close eyes, run forward, open eyes - hey presto a jaunt (or trip, fall over, bruise knees/head <LOL>)

The Six Million Dollar Man - used to run (very slowly) at 60mph all the way home from primary school.

The Great Egg Race - A science/engineering competition with Heinz Wolf and Magnus Pike.

Connections - A history of science with James Burke(?)

Monkey - A strange cult show following the adventures of Monkey, Pigsy, Tripitaka and MEMORY_BLANK.
