When I first tried using BOINC, my computer downloaded 30+ workunits but seemingly refused to start working on them.
Unaware of the effects, I reset the project, thus deleting the seti app and all the units. From my limited understanding: those workunits (which no longer exist on my computer) are still assigned to me until the deadline is passed (another 2 weeks).

Is there any way those units could be cancelled now, so that the other users don't suffer, or that I could re-download them? (especially considering that I can't get any more work at the moment anyway)

If you reset your project, the deadline is expired and the WU is put back in the schedulers queue to be sent elsewhere.

Your understanding is correct. There has been discussion about implementing reset and detach so that they would if possible return uncrunched WU to the pool and update crunched WU so that credit would eventually be received. But none of this has happened yet, and may not happen, as it is only a discussion.

Huh??? Detaching doesn't reset? What sort of sense does this make???

Man, when I make an assumption that's wrong, I go down big!
